Marc Ross Shapkins has been a disaster from day one...………..they failed miserably in fully explaining to Jays fans a 5 year plan.....if they even had one...………….they don't understand the fanbase here, and they traded players for a bucket of nuts and bolts......time to look elsewere

Guys take a chill pill. It’s very transparent what they’re doing. Once the core is ready in the next year , they’re going to spend. They have the youngest team in baseball, all under control for a while, and they will add to that. They’re basically building a big window as opposed to one done.

My problem is that when they’re finally ready to make a serious run, there’s going to be a work stoppage. It’s for sure coming

Has the population of Toronto shrunk?
No, but the Jays budget has and the amount of high-priced players who wanna come here has shrunk even more!!

If you care to debate this shack, please tell us why you dont think this is so

BBL I really hope these two clowns are long gone before it is time to shop for free agent pitching.

Also unless there is more to come for Biagini and Sanchez they got royally fucked!

There. I fixed your post for you.

I considered adding Canada to my original post but tried to keep it simple for people who don't understand what defines the size of a market.

Phil, I've tried explaining this before.

Whether a team is big or small or mid-market is defined by one and only one thing and that is the SIZE of the fan base, i.e. the population base that the franchise has at its' disposal.

If the management of a team with a large fan base acts like a small market team, that does not change how big the market actually is. If players don't want to come here for whatever reason that does change the size of the potential fan base. The size of the market (fan base) is the size of the market, not how they are being operated or perceived.

Toronto is a big market. The Blue Jays organization acts with a small market mentality.

Did I stutter?
JtheDrunk, you've just made an ass of yourself, so take your smug attitude and go fuck yourself.

I haven't seen this level of cynical trading since Richard Peddie decided he knew more than JFJr. This sends a terrible message to the young players currently with the team. The culture of losing is hard to break. Toronto may be a large market team but Rogers doesn't want to pay to make them competitive. The goodwill that Paul Beeston built up has now been completely wiped out. It wont matter if/when some of the prospects develop, the Jays are going to get post 94 strike levels of attendance. Forget about luring free agents here that's not going to happen, that's what separates us from other large market teams.

Thats totally fair, except you are completely leaving out one of the biggest market share you can possibly be, and thats marketing!
Look at guys like A-rod or Derek Jeter, would they have gotten as much marketing exposure as they would have in Toronto as opposed to New York City??!!

No, they wouldnt have!!

Thats my whole point.

I've also been drinking right now, so cheers!!! :encouragement:

Listen, I agree the it was a very bad trade, but at this point, these two guys are here for the next few years anyway so only then will we know if there plan worked. I mean if Sanchez pitches next year like he did this year, we won't even be talking about this. Having that said, that's why they should have waited but who knows what was going on behind the scenes, especially when Scott Boras is your agent.

The Blue Jays may be the greatest Triple A team in the history of baseball
Actually Biggio, Bichette and Vladdy Jr are ready for the big leagues and the 3 of them will lead the Jays, the 3 of them are swinging a hot bat. I can still see Valddy Jr winning rookie of the year.

No way shapeero wanted him on the team. He was an Anthopoulous acquisition. Who's left? Smoak and Sanchez?
This regime is garbage!!!!! Have they done one good move since they have been here? Oh not to mention, they gave away Donaldson for a bag of popcorn. I’m sick of these guys. Look what Cleveland got for Bauer.

Ross Atkins and his boss can go jump in lake Erie!

BBL: Do you really believe they have a plan? Honestly? or are you hoping they have a plan? On the upside, you may yet see the dome shut down because they can't put butts in the seats!

Bring back the Argos.

Jeff Blair says that Derek Fischer has no arm and strikes out 30% of the time. Pitcher Anthony Kay just got his world rocked in AAA.

I agree. I just hope they do spend when the time comes.
