I'll shoot you a link when I finish. Hendrix always helps. He reminds me not to be too structured in chorus progression.

Some Robert Johnson for ya. Man was a GOAT.

WOW nice Minormajor! Thanks for sharing this!!!!

Yeah if you remember shoot me a link of your own invention (whenever you decide that's it's perfectly done)!

ok so one more Hendrix tune.....politically incorrect and would never get recorded in this day and age
Nice ogibowt! Back in the days as I also lived through the hippies era, the generation was filled with ideologies and there were conflicts in many occasions between students and politicians. This evolved for quite a few years and sentiments were often reflected in music of the era!

Minormajor I'm starting to think you are a big fan of oldies! Thanks again for sharing this...
Somewhat. I am a fan of old blues rythems because of the tuning. I try to incorporate it into my writing when I can but it is kind of hard when most of the tuning I use is dropped a half (d for example). Its also great chill for me. I am extreme prog metal with grindcore elements. Think uber heavy music and that's me. Look up Meshugga it will give you an idea. Probably too extreme for you. Glad you like my selections. I'll be sure to post some more of my favs for ya.

It may seem too extreme for me right now, but with a true musician like yourself, this old man here might just start to see new horizons in my twilight years lol.

Yes please keep posting minormajor!!!

I don't have a glue about the groups you mentioned except Michael Jackson and Duran Duran lol.

Then I'm not sure if you know The Jackson 5 due to your young age?
Not a hip hop fan I take it? And of course I know the Jackson 5. Although I preferred their music when they went by The Jacksons. Including this beauty with outstanding MJ vocals.

Since this is a black music thread, you ever listened to "Jimmy Hendricks"?

Songs like "Purple Haze" and "All Along The Watch Tower"?:music:
That's not really what I would consider black music but ya of course. Hendrix was epic.

Hip Hop is hard to listen to if you aren't used to it. It's lyric driven. My singer loves it. Personally unless it's sampled with decent tracks I find it hard to get into myself. About the only thing I can listen to is Jay Z. I like this track it has 17ths as the rythem line.

I disagree, Jimi took the traditional black music he grew up with and took it to a whole new level.

Some say Elvis is the father of RockNRoll, again false, he was a product of his times. Carl Perkins wrote most of his early hits, he was also influenced by Johnny Cash during their Sun Records days in Memphis. The real father of rock is Willie Dixon. He was a side musician who wrote songs for Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf before becoming a headliner himself. I was blessed to have seen him twice at the Elmocambo with his Chicago Blues All Stars. He didn't live to see his just royalties from Led Zeppelin.
