You guys, I know what a game-winning RBI is.
I misread the box score and thought it was Vlad who knocked it in.

Anywho, Jays are playing some nice baseball given the lack of talent they have on the team

Not sure why they would deal Smoak, as he is a bargain at his current contract and is still young.

You stated the reason as he is a deal so Jays get more for him. Slugging first basemen are very common so his value is not that high as few competing teams (if any) need one but he is a back up/DH/ pinch hitter/slugging lefty who has a good glove so there is value there and if a contenders first baseman goes down his value goes up

They will put Vlad there if he fucks up at the third base

What a comeback!!

Jars are a perfect 6-0 against A's this season

I'd like to see Biggio get called up, but I dont know where they're gonna put him.
He wont take over from Vlad at 3rd, he wont take over at 1B either with Smoak/Tellez there and not 2B either with Drury and Nerd power hitting so well

I am impressed to see the Jays at .500

They could make a run at WC but management will not sacrifice the future for it so not a realistic proposition

They have gone from oldest club to youngest overnight and are a more exciting club because of it with their running and hitting behind players which lack of said is what kept them out of the WS with Gibby as manager

Their pitching is a surprise but have lost their ace and that is hard to overcome as Sanchez is an issue with his finger

Next year they may make a run if they fill gaps with free agents as the cost of a FA will be paid back with a full stadium

The Yankees are next and they are hurting bad so could be a very competitive series

Question is Vlad eligible for rookie of the year? I suspect he will hit a ton of homers before the year is over

I'm loving Montoyoball, how the hell did he stay in the minors for so long? He's a very intuitive manager, he doesn't wait for actions to happen like Gibby used to.

Don't expect Vladdy to start mashing soon, he's making the biggest jump. He may go hitless for awhile, eventually, with his skill set, he'll start bringing the plakatas.

MLB have ruled gwrbi is not an official statistic ... 30 years ago! It was a silly and dumb stat because of the time of the game it often arises.

I believe it has been banned as a statistic that can be used in arbitration cases.

Me too! Pitching has been way better than expected, will it continue? The team looks like they are having fun and it is fun to watch. 27Jr. better defensively than I expected. Season is young but never expected to see them at .500 in late Apr. Still expect a fire sale in July!

I think it's going to be a month or so before he heats up. I know everyone wants it to happen right away, but there will be an adjustment period. The guys he facing now are that much better, so he's needs a bit of time. I almost never say in baseball that a prospect is 100%, but man does he seem to square up the ball and has raw power. This only time I think Im 100% convinced this guy will pan out.

Some hitters find the big show easier to hit in because pitchers are not as wild.

But, the pitcher has the advantage as they have a plan to attack his weakness and Vlad has yet to see their stuff

He shows patience at the plate and will get a lot of walks which means they will have to pitch to him so the homers will come but they need a good hitter behind and in front of him to force the pitchers to throw him strikes. This must be foremost on the minds of the Blue Jays brain trust to get the most out of Vlad.

"Saves" is also a meaningless stat. Come in with team leading by 3 runs, allow 2 opposing runs and still get credit for a save.

I think there is a new stat call "runs saved". Yes?

Even though its not an official stat anymore, people will still use the term game winning RBI if it decides the game (like what Smoak did yesterday)

Okay, so I'm not saying a flop just yet.

But I am starting to wonder
Well, he's had 14 AB's.
That should be sufficient.
Hmmm, I wonder how Vlad's #'s after 14 AB's compare with the best active player in MLB's 1st 14 AB's.

A flop??? Are you guys serious??? Holy fuck man...

Don't be surprised if it takes a month for him to get going.

O

If most players only got 14 ABs to prove themselves the HOF would be pretty empty.

Vladdy hasn't seen the nasty breaking balls he's being pitched before. It was encouraging that he hit one for a line drive in his first game. He's not the first blue chip to struggle, Mike Trout went through the same thing in his rookie season.

The nasty curves are a thing of beauty, Duane Ward and Roy Halladay were famous for it. The best part is Sancho has perfected the pitch, that may have been the cause of his finger problems last year. Against the A's he was almost unhitable.

Btw, is it just my eyes deceiving me or does Chris Sale have a dead arm?
