Boy did they hype this kid or what? How did he get a Russian name if he's latino LOL
His parents gave it to him. You don't have to be Russian to have a Russian name. Nor a Canadian for a Canadian name!

lot of fun and excitement at the ball park tonight, but only 28000 of us. Years from now, millions will say they were at Vlad's first game. I really was

Vladdy wasn't as relaxed as he seemed. After his third at bat he realized he made a mistake. Why the baseball world is so hyped on him, at 20 he already knows how to take what the pitcher gives him. He hit the perfect alley double on his next at bat. I haven't seen a Jay do that since Paul Molitor.

The best part about last night...Jays Nona went home happy. That's what Sid calls the elderly lady who sits behind home plate.

GWRBI?????

He hit a double with the bases empty.

A batter is credited with an RBI in most cases where the result of his plate appearance is a run being scored. There are a few exceptions, however. A player does not receive an RBI when the run scores as a result of an error or ground into double play.
The most common examples of RBIs are run-scoring hits. However, players also receive an RBI for a bases-loaded walk or hit by pitch. Players can earn RBIs when they make outs, as well, provided the out results in a run or runs (except, as noted above, in the case of double plays).
Along with home runs and batting average, RBIs are a part of baseball's offensive Triple Crown. However, RBIs can be a deceiving stat, as they have been proven to be highly predicated upon circumstance. Players often attain high RBI totals throughout the course of a season simply by batting behind hitters who get on base frequently.
Still, Major League Baseball players place a great importance on RBIs -- and understandably so, because it is their job to produce runs.]

You're welcome, Phil. Once you understand the rules better you will enjoy the games more.

His physical stature reminds me of Prince Fielder. I wonder if he (like me) will start putting on weight as he gets older? (I still think he speaks English and/or French as he spent his early childhood in Montreal and he hung around clubhouses where some players and media types spoke English.)

He reminds me of Homer Simpson who ate too many donuts.

Seriously though, I hope they put them on a good diet

The Toronto Blue Jays dip into the free agent pool (the shallow end), and sign Ben Revere (yeah, that Ben Revere) to a milb deal.

No, but he had the GWRBI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oquFX9uZbBM

I agree though, he looks much meaner without the reggae hair, but such is life.
I think when grows older he'll cut it off or something. Lets hope so anyways

JAYS WIN...............JAYS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:clap2:
I don't think that's a game winning RBI. He got a double, so he's a runner on second (the winning run), that got a pinch runner in. Drury who hit the homerun got the 2 RBIs.

Your way late on this. It's not the game winning RBI. I guess you missed the post where shack already called him out on this and his response was "it's the game winning RBI because I said so".
