So - most of my picks to win their first round have been eliminated (Tampa, Pittsburgh, Calgary, Winnipeg) and one is now facing elimination (Nashville) but I will be very happy if the Leafs prove my prediction of Bruins in 7 wrong tomorrow.
As a life long Habs fan it is not easy for me to cheer for the Leafs - but I am - Go Leafs Go!!!
Many would say that you're not really a true Habs fan if you are cheering for the Leafs.

not always sure...

Habs fans have a much deeper and lengthier playoff resentment of the Bruins than the Leafs do.

When was the last time the Habs and the Leafs even had a chance to work on their rivalry? Have they met in the playoffs in the last 40 years?

Oveckin is out of control! Carolina ("Sweet Caroline") just tied the series at 3.

If not for Montreal, Bobby Orr would have a few more Cup rings.
If not for ________, Leafs would have won a cup in the last 50 years. Fill in the blank.

Did anyone see the crazy game last night between SJ vs LV?

LV had a 3-0 lead in the 3rd. But Cody Eakin took a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. The Sharks score 4 goals on the 5 min PP. Eventualy LV tied it up with the goalie out (take note Babcock) and it went to OT. The Sharks win in OT. Joe Thronton looks really old but looked like giddy school boy that night.

I turned the game off early in the third period as I thought there was no way SJ would come back (in the previous 6 games I don't think there had been any lead changes) - so I missed the wild finish - sounds like a game for the ages !!!

The last 10 minutes and OT were a more than a game's worth of dama and energy by themselves.

I didn't agree with the penalty. To me it was a 2 minute cross-checking penalty (although the exact same play happens hundreds of times with no penalty at all) and 99.9% of the time the only outcome is the player who was hit stagger back a little or gets dropped on his but and pops right back up.

Nobody hit his head, nobody took a long charge, nor hit him from behind or a blind side, The fact he got hurt was due to a series of freak accidents, from the unusual way he twisted on initial contact, then the way he collided with a stratled Stastny, and finally the awkward fall to the ice. Unfortunate but not a Major penalty. I didn't even see a Ref's arm go up on the initial hit, they caved in to the optics after the fact and called it retroactively.

The Sharks did a great job of making a rallying point out of it, as the Hurricanes did with the Ovechkin KO of Smechnikov. Gallant did a poor job of not calling a T/O after that first goal to try to slowing things down a bit although I'm not sure 30-45 seconds would have been enough seeing how the Knights seemed infected by negative energy and anticipation from the whole episode.

AND now there goes the defending champs, taken out by a bunch of jerks. This is truly the upside down playoffs. The Hurricanes were really outplaying the Caps in OT so well deserved on their part.

Wow Carolina Hurricanes knock off the defending SC champs. This is one crazy playoff season!
I think we will be seeing a lot more of Carolina in the playoffs in years to come. They have a ton of young talent in Aho, Teravainen, Svechnikov, Slavin and their farm team crushed it in the AHL led by youngsters like Martin Necas, Jake Bean and their future goalie Alex Nedelkjovic. Shit even guys like Dougie Hamilton and Justin Faulk are only in their mid 20's. Definitely a team to watch!

So - the only first round series I called right was the one I hoped I would get wrong (I picked Boston in 7) All four regular season conference champions eliminated - I don't think many people saw that happening.

And the legend of Justin Williams grows - he is now the leading scorer in Game 7's. He was instrumental in the winning goal from creating the turnover to getting the puck on net to be tipped - amazing.
