After The Beatles. The band that killed the psychedelic era, according to John Lennon.

I saw King Crimson once, Robert Fripp wanted to play only disco music. Nearly caused a riot.

Robert Fripp is a prick to his fans but he seems to bring out the best in fellow musicians. Bill Bruford quit Yes to be part of his projects. And there is no doubt he had a profound effect on David Bowie.

Its all subjective of course but top 3 are beatles, led zeppelin, rolling stones according to most polls.
I wouldn't argue with that, but I'd say The Who should be mentioned along with them. One of the best live bands of all time.

Agreed. Maybe the most talented band ever. They were basically comprised as frontmen, any one of them could be the leader in any other band.

3 consecutive albums in a row that are all in the greatest albums of all time.

Tommy (first rock opera)
Who's Next (considered the first heavy metal album)
Quadrophenia (not any firsts--just amazing rock)
