Matthews looks to lack intensity.
They say you can tell a lot about a man (or woman) based on his/her upbringing. Tavares and Marner came up through London of the OHA. Mathews and Nylander did not.

Dave Hutchison and Louie Debrusk also played for them.

Gretzky and Crosby and Lemieux also did not? What is your point?

Very well stated, with an emphasis on "well coached". The Islanders played a complete game.
Typically every time after a bad Leaf loss, we'd hear a lot of these white noises, such as how much better coached the other team was, how many holes were in the Leafs lineup, etc. Just like in mid October the Penguins shut out the Leafs 3-0, we heard how the young Leafs were schooled by the Pens or how badly Babcock was out coached. Guess what, 2 weeks later the Leafs thumped the Pens 5-0 and the Leafs are currently sitting 8 point above them.

On any given night any team can be flat as Mia Farrow. The Isles were obviously more motivated and wanted the game more. This "well coached" team is fighting hard to get into the playoffs and even if they make it, they're not a team I worry about.

The Isles would have kept Tavares had they stayed in Uniondale. It must have been very disheartening for him, busting a nut for the franchise and getting silence from the sparse crowd at the Barclays Center. Brooklyn is not what it used to be, it's now a preppy hip hop borough, they don't give a shit about hockey. They betrayed their hardcore base of Queens/Long Island working class fans, most of whom boycotted Barclays.

Agreed. Wins and losses come and go as well as consistency of play.

But watching Tampa reveals how “on another level” they are. Just more consistency and offensive attack while not being nearly exposes defensively.

Their star goalie gets injured and ho hum they just keep winning like no big deal. Leafs lose their starter and the sky is falling. Although give them credit they did keep winning without Matthews and Nylander for a stretch.

If Kaskisuo gets a start and looks good, that will simplify the Leafs goaltending question. The Marlies have rebounded now that he's healthy, he could be ready for prime time. The Leafs are grooming to be their next No. 1, if Sparks gives up more 5 holes his future could be now.

As for Mathews, he looks like he's coasting like Phil McNasty sweats to the oldies. He's not being challenged and Babcock doesn't seem concerned. Better that he coasts now than April.

Kaskisuo is not the answer. Hutchinson is another Sparks. Dominant in the minors but not so much in the bigs. They were 1 and 2 last year in the A. With him they could go deep again in a repeat run for the Calder. Good for the development of the youth. It is Andersen or bust once the playoffs start.

Bring on the Russians! But, they play dirty, they cheat, they lie and they are big.

BTW: Tessa Bonhomme (what a woman!) from Sudbury Ontario claims she is fluent in both English and French but when interviewed for a TV broadcasting job on a French channel her French didn't make the cut.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tessa_Bonhomme

"Talking about Tessa Bonhomme married life, she is treating herself as a successful happy and single woman till now. Tessa Bonhomme relationship status is single for now. She is very conscious about her professional career. It is known that she is not involved with any man till today. So, talking about Tessa Bonhomme boyfriend is of no concern. Some people use to blame her lesbian as she has never been spotted with any guy in public. In the media also there is almost nothing which clearly confirms her sexuality. However, the detail related to Tessa Bonhomme relationship is still a mystery."

If you are lucky enough to hook up with a French Canadian girl from Sudbury-Capreol, you keep her. They're mildly neurotic, down to earth and all access in bed.

Didn't see Frost with hand on ear vs the Russians. Don't know why he felt compelled to do it vs the Danes. Who cares you beat them 14 and 0

Since the Leafs are on a 4 day hiatus, the Juniors are the only game in town. Bring on the Finns! Is this a must win game?

(I still can't get over the fact that Tessa Bonhomme (Goodman in English) is lesbo.)

The leafs are a very good team, but I am not convinced that they are good enough to win the cup. I do hope that I am wrong.
