Yeah Juice is really good and I remember that movie so well from the 90s...it left an impact.
My ATF soundtrack that's for sure. I played it to death back in the day.

I was going to mention the Beatles, but now I am relegated to The Monkees, for their TV show.
But wasn't Mike Nesmith the only actual musician?

For minor roles that were memorable - I still chuckle when I think of Alice Cooper in Wayne's World giving the history of "Millo-wah-kay". I guess he was just playing himself though - so maybe that doesn't count.

Kris Kristofferson was mentioned above for the stinker remake of "A Star is Born" - but he's had some good roles in other movies. eg: "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "Heaven's Gate" (box office disaster but has aged better than it's reputation would suggest).

Here's one from 1969, Performance, with Mick Jagger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performance_(film)
Great call Shack. Jagger in Performance was the first thought that came to me. Great film.
Apparently Keith was not happy about the Jagger/Anita Pallenberg sex scenes. James Fox was excellent as well.

Really good in "Coal Miner's Daughter" - you could almost feel the black lungs when he talked.
This was the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread topic.
Since I'm a fan of the Godfather I'll add Al Martino as Johnny Fontane. That's right, a singer playing the role of a.....um, singer.

Steve Van Zandt, guitarist for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band also plays a mobster Silvio Dante in the Sopranos. He also plays Giovanni Henriksen in the series Lillyhammer.

It's a toss up between Flo and Eddie in 200 Motels and Dwight Yoakum in Sling Blade.

I liked all the musicians in the "Blues Brothers" movie.

- Cab Calloway
- Aretha Franklin
- Ray Charles
- Mat "Guitar" Murphy
- James Brown

There may be more.

I could go more obscure here. But Adam Faith had a pretty good run in Budgie. "See you Jimmy"
Joe Brown made a surprise appearance in Mona Lisa with Bob Hoskins.
Tom Waits in Raindogs, playing Tom Waits.
Johnny Leighton in the great escape as Charles Bronson's cell mate.
I could go on..............
