If these 5 guys were drowning and you could only save one, which would it be?

None of the above, to many powerful a-holes in the world as it is. If I could t5hrow a concrete life preserver to one it would be Doug Ford...

You guys are SOOO mean to our Conservative leaders!

Me? I’d be there with my boat and I’d act swiftly. “Jason, Andrew, Doug - grab this anchor rope!” I’d toss a curling rock to Pallister and a bottle of rye to Moe.

The disturbing thing about that cover photo is that it is SO obvious that Kenney is grabbing a fistful of Scheer’s ass while playing “pocket pool”. His flamboyant lifestyle may cost him a few votes.

Tip my hat to you guys with keeping tabs on our own politics.

I only know Doug Ford in the photo, no idea who the others even are.

Its funny how US politics is so much more talked about on TV and media that many people can ID a variety of American politicians, yet not have any interest in their Country.
You must know the name “Jason Kenney”? He’s the guy feeling up Scheer (the goofy dimple guy in the center).

Anyway, the fact that you don’t know who they are is one reason the cover story is ludicrous. If THESE guys are all Canada has left to wave the “Conservative” banner, we are truly fucked.

Here is a summary (I did a more lengthy one in the lounge) for those who don’t follow politics:

Left to right:

Ex High School hash dealer.

Ex High school teacher and local union head. He does curl well.

A guy whose private sector experience is 6 months at a local Regina based insurance company in their trainee program. Sat on his ass and clapped on command for 10 years as a part of the CPC Govt (including 4 years as Speaker). Now he leads the Federal Party. Not because he was a popular first choice, but a safe second choice. It’s like choosing the first loser to be the next winner. Believes condoms violate his beliefs.

Last - a fucking convicted drunk driver who a couple years later killed somebody in a careless driving accident where he claims he has no memory of the incident.

Edit: forgot Kenney (second from right, the guy fingering Scheer’s buttcrack while fondling himself). Jesuit college dropout self loathing closet gay hyper partisan scheming dishonest asshole.

I propose that they fight each other to the death in 1-on-1 gladiatorial contests, each using his own specific skill. Dooffo can belly-bop the others with his immense, powerful belly. The curler could wield a curling broom. The drunk driver could drive a miniature car and attempt to run the others over. Not really sure what Scheer actually does or what his signature skill would be though.

Open to suggestions on that one.

Whenever Scheer opens his mouth he sounds like a complete idiot. Scheer can stare blankly with his cherubic grin and clap mindlessly. That is the extent of his skill set. He may be known as the Liberals best weapon. Is that a skill?

I have heard the name Jason Kenney, wouldn't know him to see him though.

I've been always PC, though only voted twice. I was interested when Patrick Brown was looking solid to win. When the allegations came, and he was gone, I was disappointed in the replacements.

Ford gave me the impression that he was trying to be Trump 2.0
I felt he was flip-flopping on his views, and didn't feel he was the right one to take control. I'd say I was happy the PCs won, because thats who I support, but nothing about the current party interests me, and Ford gives me the impression he would flip a decision over a small bribe..
I’m certainly no fan of Ford, and agree that he should not be the leader. But, he is (believe it or not) “ethical” when compared to Brown. Brown’s social conservative backers blew up Brown and backed Ford which is why he won over Elliot. The party is still in shambles beneath the surface - not sure that Ford will be able to hold it together for 4 years. It’s a total shit show.

Like Dalton McGuinty, the predictably colourless result of ranked ballot voting. Not necessarily a bad thing, until everyone's second choice sniffs out where the big dogs are pissing and thinks that to stay Leader, he has to out-piss them. That at least was one mistake McG didn't make.

It also shows the danger when a caretaker leader wins an election. Then you’re stuck with the guy. People forget that Harris took over the party when few wanted it. Then he won. MCGuinty the same thing - few really knew him but he won the leadership because he was the safe choice (vs Gerard Kennedy. Btw - Why is Kennedy involved in at least two bad leadership decisions - MCGuinty and Dion?). Scheer was not supposed to be in a position to win next year - he was supposed to take the loss but make it respectable enough that the next leader could win 2023. That’s why people like Kenney sat out.

On the subject of ranked ballots - not sure that the Liberals used this in 1996. But agree that Ranked ballot voting is the worst way for a political party to choose a leader, IMO. I think Canadian parties should go back to delegates and a big convention in a big venue with rounds of voting. Far harder to game the votes with instant members (as Brown and Ford did) and requires leaders to battle for support in real time and get a clear majority. Scheer would never have won in that scenario.

Right on Kat. Puzzles me to no end why more attention is not paid to their own idiots in this country. JT has Canada headed down the toilet big time, he's Canada's Obama - over regulating everything and driving business away. While sanctimonious guys here laugh at the US, Canada is on a big time losing streak.

Well, you seem to have it backwards. Kathleen doesn’t laugh at the US, in fact she cheers Trump. Meanwhile, she did not recognize 4 of 5 Conservative leaders in our own country. I don’t mean to single her out because that is actually typical. How is it possible for people who cheer US “Conservatism” to not know their own flag bearers here? That’s why you end up with five idiots on the cover of Maclean’s whose true common thread is that they are vehemently against abortion, and they don’t believe in gay rights. Fiscal responsibility, smaller efficient, less intrusive government? Fuggedaboutit.

I guess the right wingers are suffering from TDS (Trudeau Derangement Syndrome). They cannot accept this fact:

So the majority do not support the current government in power. Seems about right. Thanks.
The NDP and Green supporters are somewhat less offended by Trudeau then they would be by Sheer and DOFO
