It's not necessary to make a dark movie about Queen / Freddie Mercury. We all know he had a dark side. Hell, I have a dark side. You have a dark side Everyone on this board (obviously) has a dark side. That's not why I love Queen. I love Queen because of their music.
Queen was an amazing band and Freddie was arguably THEE greatest rock and roll singer of all time. (I'm hard pressed to think who, even in their prime, had a better voice than Freddie. Roger Daltrey in his prime, Bono in his prime, Robert Plant in his prime are the only ones who come close IMHO.) His music reached me as a youth and I still enjoy listening to it today. I don't need to see a movie about Freddie's dark side. He never publicized it, never did anything stupid like so many of today's punk ass pop tarts. I've heard the movie called "paint by numbers" and I'm fine with that. I want to see the movie on the big screen, but I figured I'd let the crowds die down a bit first. I'm never big on wedging myself into a theatre.
***UPDATED LINK with one that has a much better sound and pic
When Freddie cuts into the famous piano notes of Bohemian Rhapsody at 02:13 , it sends shivers down my spine and then it's incredible how he gets the crowd into it at 8:30
Queen absolutely stole the show that day.
