There's a statute of limitations in NY State, the only thing the IRS could get him for monetary penalties

https://www.democratandchronicle.co...18/10/03/new-york-trump-tax-fraud/1509204002/

And of course thats assuming Trump is even guilty.
No way will he be impeached over this.
You were saying??!!

I never said that Trump would be criminally charged. And I never said that the statute of limitations wouldn't apply.

What I said is that the tax people could audit him despite the fact that he had already been assessed and that they could go back as far as they wished because it's a fraud investigation. And Aardvark already mentioned the Statute of Limitations.

According to some experts getting a monetary penalty might not be so easy either: https://www.democratandchronicle.co...18/10/03/new-york-trump-tax-fraud/1509204002/

Other experts, though, were not so sure that the state would be able to easily reopen the tax cases.

The state would have already signed off on the tax arrangements for decades, said Syracuse University tax-law professor John Petosa.

"I don’t think there was anything new being presented here that wasn’t already known at the time," Petosa said.

"So I don’t know how you go back and say, ‘Well, we looked at it then, and we thought it was OK, but now because The Times wrote an article, we have to reopen these.’ I don’t know that is a basis."
I have a feeling this will go absolutely nowhere either, just as RussiaGate is going nowhere also.
The Left is really trying to find anything against Trump now, and they're starting to look desperate

Well first of all, the NYT isn't "the Left". Unless you define any news source except Breitbart of Fox News as "left".

And secondly, the evidence seems pretty strong that there was fraud and tax evasion. If Trump gets away with that due to passage of time, the only people who are going to laugh about it are people like you who enjoy gloating when your hero cheats at the expense of the other citizens of his state and country and gets away with it on a technicality. In which case, I suggest you take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

Third, the Russiagate investigation is doing just fine, thank you. It was never set up with a time limit or a mandate to charge Trump or his family. It was set up to find out what happened with the Russian interference and so far Mueller is doing a great job and has obtained several high level convictions while the investigation still continues.

If this is all your idea of "winning", it's pretty sad.

Oh it most definitely is left of centre. But you are left-wing as well, so you see the NY Times as central.

When we're talking mainstream media then yes, virtually every news source out there leans Left.

I learned a long time ago there's is no such thing as objective news, they all swing either Left or Right.
The only 2 news outlets that I find hard to pin down are CBSnews and ABCnews.
CNN, MSNBC, NBC....etc all lean either Left or heavily Left.

See here: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/mar/6/trump-coverage-still-90-negative-says-new-study/

Really?? Can I see that evidence??
Show us all the documents, please

All those convictions had to do with fraud and money laundering, none of them had anything to do with Russian election collusion

Hmmmm..... And all those indictments of Russian hackers? Not to do with Russiagate?

And the investigation in still ongoing. So Mueller is still checking stuff out.

And the evidence of tax evasion?..... Phil, there is a major NYT article laying it all out for you point by point. Oh that's right. The NYT is "leftie". So you don't have to think about what it says. Got it.

Have a nice day, Phil.

They werent Russian hackers, oagre. They were a bunch of Russians who started a few pro-Tump facebook accounts.

I hardly call that collusion since Trump probably had no idea who these Russian guys were, plus it's extremely doubtful that swayed the election any kind of way.

And btw I looked into that NY Times report, there is nothing in it that wasnt already known by the IRS 35 years ago. But if you're so sure Trump will be held liable, lets make a sig bet. Are you in??

They were Russian paid hackers, do you forget that Putin was the head of the KGB?
You also forget that Trump made a public call for more hacking and that Roger Stone announced that there were hacks of Podesta coming out BEFORE wikileaks/Putin released them.
Trump's campaign had inside intel on the hacks, which is why Mueller has been taking his time circling around Stone before he is interviewed.

Trump's 'wealth' is based on fraud and being bailed out by his father after he screwed up many, many times.
The state of NY is now looking into those taxes.

Thats bullshit. He found out at exactly the same time they were posted on wikileaks

Post proof please

No, its not based on fraud. Its based on hard work and business savvy.

BTW I asked you if you wanted to make a second bet. If you're so sure of all these *facts* you just posted, why not make the bet??

The Justice Department announced indictments against 12 Russian nationals as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, accusing them of engaging in a "sustained effort" to hack Democrats' emails and computer networks.

All 12 defendants are members of the GRU, a Russian federation intelligence agency within the main intelligence directorate of the Russian military, who were acting in "their official capacities."
From CNN.

They were indicted, but their cases havent been brought to trial, and I highly doubt they ever will.
Innocent till proven guilty, right??

But tell you what, I do believe there's Russian hacking going on all the time into the US, but vice versa is also true.
The (especially the NSA from what Snowden told us) US is actively engaged in hacking almost every industrialized country in the world.
Canada probably does it too.

So how can you hold only Russia resoonsible, and not our own countries??
Also it in no way proves Trump collude with these hackers to influence the election.

This doesnt prove anything. Try harder, Frankie.

Now, are you willing to make a second bet or not??

Phil, the investigation is still continuing. We won't know what Trump knew / didn't know for a while yet........

As far as "innocent until proven guilty", I have a couple of Russians who want to sell you souvenir photos of their tourist jaunt to the wonders of Salisbury Cathedral. They're not GRU either. "Innocent until Proven Guilty", right?

Just because the special prosecutor has indicted several Russians for doing shit and says they're GRU, doesn't mean that Phil has to take it seriously, right? Just like anything the NYT writes? It's a leftie rag. Trump would never falsify a real estate valuation. No one ever does bad stuff like that in Phil-world. And MI5 just makes shit up too. So does, Mueller.

Cue Phil's 8-page time waste for a holiday Monday. He will keep saying "But it hasn't been proven. But the Times is a leftie newspaper. Do you want to make a sig pic bet? You mad, Bro?" for the next 8 pages and try and annoy people into responding to him.

You can't really falsify a real estate appraisal, oagre. All you can do is persuade your appraiser to value your property for a higher amount then the IRS thinks its worth. In other words, above market value. The only way Trump may have committed fraud is if he bribed the appraiser. That would be highly illegal.

If you can show me proof Trump did that, then I rest my case and Trump is guilty of fraud.
But overhyping your properties is not a crime. I could overvalue my condo by $1 million, and if IRS goes along with it then thats their problem.

You can also appeal any appraisal of your property if you think its been appraised too low.
Nothing illegal about that

So right now the city has my property for tax purposes assessed at about half its current market value. And that's what I pay.

So I'm going to go with the assumption it's NYC's job when it comes to property taxes to assess the properties and then tell the owners what to pay as well.

How the hell can they come back 35 years later with a new assessment? Whatever he did with the IRS there is no way it can apply to his property taxes. If anything the undervaluing may hurt his being able to write off some as business expenses.

I'm certainly not an expert in the tax code but pretty sure some basic common sense applies here.
