Arencibia went 4-4 not 5-5 in his debut.

He got married to Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry (they're now divorcing).

Rick Cerone, Barry Bonnell, Rick Leach, Bob Brenly, John Olerud, Darren Fletcher, Tom Wilson, Gregg Zaun, Cole Gillespie,
John Mayberry, Cliff Pennington, Darrell Ceciliani....also wore 9.
I suspect Jansen selected his number, not the team
LOL!!! How did I know Costanza would come up with the right stats!!! :biggrin1:

All you gotta do in this thread is post the wrong stats and either georgie or shack will straighten you out within 2 seconds!!

Thanks for acknowledging that George and I are knowledgeable and try to discuss things based on factual information.

I feel like I’ve earned the right to be in this mix..lol.
You, me and costanza are the same person. We base our arguments on facts as opposed to non-quantitative things like “gibby doesn’t know how to motivate his players”. Weather he can or not, I have no idea. What I do know is that while stats may not tell the whole truth, they usually don’t lie.

Right, and Gibby has run his course,

Its time for him to go, Jays could actually have salvaged a bit of the season had they let him go in May, but so be it.

Better late then never

How could they have salvaged the season, Phil?

You mean firing Gibby would magically have stopped Josh from going on the DL? Or altered the fact that 4 of our 5 starters have been injured / ineffective for most of the season? Or altered the fact that the Red Sox have a generational championship team this year? Or that NY - aside from the rash of injuries that have screwed them - was almost as good as Boston?

Inquiring minds want to know how you see this?

I see it as I want some butts fired, and I dont care who it is.
I want a shake-up, dammit. I want it right now!!!

EDIT: actually Gibby should've been canned in May when we still had a tiny sliver of a chance of competing for the WC

Me too! Where is this new manager than win with a depleted starting staff, the loss of his closer, a weak hitting aging team that sucks defensively????

Gibby will not probably not be back next year, unfortunately the bulk of the upper management team will be. Changing managers this year would not have changed the outcome of the poor performance.

You wanted the man fired, simply for the sake of firing someone?
With no succession plan in place, no idea of whom to bring in to help the club play better?

Seems just a tad illogical. Not surprising in the least, but illogical.

See my above post. The one you quoted. What did you not comprehend about what I wrote?

My case against Gibbons wasn't how he managed bad teams...but we should have at least won the AL in 2015.....and in 2016 Terry Francona's team was so much better prepared and managed in the ALCS. I did like him yelling at Pillar on Sunday.

The reason that we lost the 2016 ALCS was because most of our batting order was too hurt. We lost the AL East pennant by slumping through August and September. We backed into the playoffs. We won against Texas because their pitching melted down and our bullpen performed brilliantly. There's only so long you can scuffle your way into the post season. Nothing to do with Gibby.

I bet that any person on this thread could have managed the jays to an almost identical record this year. They just do not have the horses to compete in this division.
