Borucki got shelled today as well.
Thats his 3rd bad start in a row, I think MLB hitters are starting to figure him out

6 runs scored without recording an out in the 1st. I think they have him totally figured out.Borucki got shelled today as well.

Yes, I was following that and wondering just how bad that was in modern times?6 runs scored without recording an out in the 1st. I think they have him totally figured out.
I like to think of him as Be A Genie. But even having a genie would not help the Jays.Yes, I was following that and wondering just how bad that was in modern times?
The good news was that Biagini came in and actually did well.
That would be good value. Even better, his salary this season is $4.125MM.Smoak is actually having a decent season considering what we pay him.
He's on course to hitting about 21 or 22 homeruns and driving in 80 or so ribbies.
All that for $8.5 mill/yr isnt too bad at all
That would be good value. Even better, his salary this season is $4.125MM.
Biagini is the perfect middle-reliever who can eat up 2 to 3 innings and not give up more then a run or so.The good news was that Biagini came in and actually did well
The entire BJ lineup is hitting in the mid .200's and this is mirrored by many of the other teams. Even the Yankees don't have a regular who is batting .300 this year IIRC.
I am guessing that the emphasis has switched from hitting for average to power hitting and OPB in the majors.
And Smoak doesn't have the protection of a first rate BO. Under the circumstances, he is not having a bad year at all.
You are correct in thats his base salary, but he receives a bonus if he gets over 1,1000 plate appearances, which he has passed now at 1,124.That would be good value. Even better, his salary this season is $4.125MM
Contract Notes:
- 2019 club option includes a $250,000 buyout
- Option increases to $7M with 950 Plate Appearances across 2017-18
- Option increases to $8M with 1,100 Plate Appearances across 2017-18
Pick up the option and pay him the 8. They have players that are higher paid and much less productive. You are correct in thats his base salary, but he receives a bonus if he gets over 1,1000 plate appearances, which he has passed now at 1,124.
So his salary for 2018 is $8 mill (at least I think I have that correct).

The way I read that, those numbers you're talking about are for the 2019 Option Year. You are correct in thats his base salary, but he receives a bonus if he gets over 1,1000 plate appearances, which he has passed now at 1,124.

This is correct. The way I read that, those numbers you're talking about are for the 2019 Option Year.
They don't affect his salary in 2018. I stand to be corrected.
For a Blue Jay catcher, yes, but Barfield and Goins had 8 game streaks and some other schmuck had a 6 game streak (they showed the graph on the game tonight).Danny Jansen, first Blue Jay player ever to start his career with a 6-game hit streak
gotta like Jansen so far. Trying to forget Arencibia started off going 5 for 5...where is he now? Wish they hadn't given the kid Arencibia's old number.
Arencibia went 4-4 not 5-5 in his debut.gotta like Jansen so far. Trying to forget Arencibia started off going 5 for 5...where is he now? Wish they hadn't given the kid Arencibia's old number.
