Nutritionists know nothing. For years we've been told that to live healthy we must cut the fat. The result, arthritis has never been more widespread.

Now there's some truth to this, how much: Fucked if I know Bubba, fucked if I know. One thing I do know from experience, drinking Diet Coke or eating low fat yogurt (yuck) or worse, low fat mayonnaise (quadruple yuck) makes me feel like sheeeeeeeeiiiiiiitttttt!

My favorite sushi, it's sad you can't get it fresh in Toronto - stay away from the frozen. BC ships almost all of it to Japan. To quote from Apocalypse Now!, "if you eat ths you'll never have to prove your manhood in any other way".

Good for making soba at home

You can find this at Japanese food stores and some Korean grocers (like Galleria). This is the one for Zaru soba (as a cold dipping sauce) but can also be used as a hot base. They also have a hot soba base with a red label. You can usually pick up the soba noodles at the same store (they are fine dry noodles, packed like spaghetti) as well as bonito flakes and wasabi (fresh or powdered). Boil these until the firmness is to taste then drain in a colander and rinse with cold or ice water. Drain and serve cold. Usually you have a raw quails egg to add to the dipping sauce, but you can divide up a regular egg too. I like the dipping sauce with a lot of wasabi. Great summer dish.

Miss Croft, I think you missed your calling. You should have been a chef. It's never too late!

True Missy, I would probably invest in any restaurant you set up.

Las Vegas has set the Leafs as the favorites to win the 2019 Stanley Cup. I doubt it, there's still work to do.

...in honour of John Tavares coming home...there's more to Portuguese cuisine than piri piri chicken.

I've worked in a couple of kitchens but it was pretty simple pub-type food. I actually have been thinking about a culinary program. I am creative but need to work on things like my knife skills.

You and I should open a restaurant together!!

I would probably end up eating most of what you made. You should seriously think about enrolling in the George Brown Culinary School, there's no better teacher than John Higgins. His graduates, Mark McEwen, Rob Rainford and Roger Mooking learned well.

RR is currently running the kitchen for The Old Mill Restaurant.

It's about fucking time! No fast food is worse than Subway, you want digestive cancers help yourself.

And that is why I would never buy a franchise . You spend all your saved $ to be a powerless slave and get stepped on by a heartless corporation. I feel for the fools who bought in to the "eat fresh" BS. :ballchain::ballchain:

As bad as trucking is at least I do not own a franchise.

I eat there out of convenience as they are better than Timmys or McD which is far too often the other alternative as their number one concern is to kill quality competition. I just never eat their bread, week old salads only with some canned tuna , ever look at their tuna? While it is tasty, taste is their only concern IMHO as fresh quality food is their BS slogan

How hard is it to educate yourself about food ? WTF is the matter with people?

A protein salad from Freshies when I can get it

I think an insect fast food place would be a great healthy alternative. With immigrants used to eating insects in their homeland it just might catch on . Way healthier than Subway or Timmies or Mcd

Anthony Bourdain came to Rome late, but when he got there he REALLY let his freak flag fly! He may have even asked Gabrielle Bonci for a job.

Roman pizza, I'm addicted to the taglia, never had the tonda. Bonci segment starts at 14:00.

A very dear friend of mine lost his wife a few years ago. He is 71 now and doesn't know how to cook and this is more common than a lot of people realize. Elderly men (especially those who have lost their wives) are often eating canned soup and fast food. If they have friends or family who will bring them homemade meals it's great. My grandmother also got meals on wheels and she loved it.

My friend asked me recently about what oil you're supposed to cook with. Canola or vegetable, etc. I went to the grocery store for him and bought him the oil and vegetables because he wants to learn how to cook stir-frys and learn how to make a spaghetti sauce. I like that he is asking me for help. Not everyone learned this stuff when they were younger and if their spouse is now gone, they are a bit lost.
