I'm pretty sure hardly anyone knows the difference between fair and light. And I've never seen someone classified as "medium" skin colour.

Are you also upset that describing central and SE asians as “yellow” or indigenous people as “red” has fallen out of style?
I mean, it seems like we should be accurate when describing skin tone of suspects in crimes such as these.
Personally, “light” or “fair” narrows down potential suspects greatly.
Sure, “black” could be used to describe the skin tone of these two fellas, but I’m sure we can do better than that.
Brown and dark are also subjective, and can be swapped. If someone sees a very dark Indian person, they may just say Brown, even if their colour is darker than a Black person. For example in that picture, I think the Brown girl has darker skin than the Dark girl. Excluding the shiny lighting, I think the Brown girl has a darker chocolate skin tone than the Dark girl.
Probably the one box in that image that is most consistent is Olive, which most people should interpret as that tanned Mediterrean kind of look.
