Do they even teach cursive in school anymore?

Nope. I have a teenaged relative who was never taught cursive handwriting (a lost art in my opinion - I take pride in having good penmanship.) She also isn't very good at telling the time with a regular clock. The world is definitely changing.
Apparently, some young people/teenagers don't even know how to write their signature.... And don't even get me started on spelling! lol

So there's definitely one, possibly two generations, where a majority are completely incapable of communicating via hand writing. Guess biometrics ( finger/retina print) will be replacing signatures then.

Why? It's as useful as learning to use an abacus for math...

Please, there are way too many people not able to perform basic math without an electronic aide.

Jamaica's population is 2 million and was a former slave colony. What country with a similar population size is a world power?

Conversely, Jamaica is a worldwide cultural behemoth when taking into consideration its small size. Every heard of Bob Marley, eaten Jamaican patties, or watch men rap in cool patois on the big screen?
