It still isn't Westworld
Lol, the video calls them "hyper-realistic". I'm not even sure I'd call them realistic yet.
It is cool though what they're trying to do with the AI. Frankly, I think it's much easier to create a realistic personality than it is to create a realistic physical body that functions like a human's does.
In either case, they're still a long ways off the mark.

Im so fascinated by this. How far will they go? Will everyone become a recluse? But wait, wouldn't you want to program the A.I so it was exactly how you wanted it and more non-human than human? A robot shouldn't have flaws...

There are cases where guys became fixated on the inanimate dolls and "fell in love" with them. There was a movie "Lars and the Real Girl" IIRC. So if the robots can talk a little, who knows? There are a lot of very shy, lonely guys out there (who could benefit from seeing a real escort a couple of times a month!!!)

It is a very interesting argument to have on whether or not such things help or harm society. If, as Samantha suggested, the AI is programmed to the desires of the owner, would that warp the owner's ability to form healthy, real relationships? Would there even be a distinction between so-called real and unreal relationships? Is one healthier than the other?

To a degree, us on this board already experience this, do we not? We're paying for an experience that emulates a real relationship, but is not one. At least not in the same way. I think whether that helps or hurts depends on the person in question.

Anyway, it's fascinating stuff, more so for the personality thing than the sex toy thing.

It would not be my first mechanical experience

Good point. We've all had our share of starfishes with LESS reaction than that sex robot.

Interesting thinking. How do you define "relationship"? In my view a friendships are relationships, perhaps not sexual, but can be very close or more distant. So I have hundreds of 'relationships' not all of which lead to bed.
More to the point though is whether a robot can substitute for a sex partner.... Given that many of us resort to jerking off when there is no option of a real life snatch available I suspect that the robot will definitely have a role.
Picture a 'red light district' where a variety of the women on offer are robots and get activated by inserting your credit card.... Not that hard to imagine.

Some guys might consider the credit card slot a viable orifice and gum up the inner workings.
Better to just tap and go.

As long as they can't walk, do dishes or iron - women have nothing to worry about !

Following your question from a female perspective - how about a perpetually young stud that does laundry, house cleaning, takes out the garbage, shares your love of soap operas & shopping -with the physical attraction and preferred male attributes you really crave ?

There is a Real Doll MALE sex robot. And I am guessing you could have "him" modified with as large an attribute as you desire.
