As it looks right now, there is no way Josh throws anyone out on a slow roller or a bunt. I imagine we'll be seeing a few bunts up the third base line over the next few games to see if he can actually get any juice on the throw
Good point. Gibby will have to DH him until his shoulder heals properly

My prediction is based on 4 out of our 5 starters posting 3 or 4 games above .500 numbers plus we get some decent hitting.

I admit its a bit overly optimistic, but what the hey
Stranger things have happened.

Gibby is a good manager. He was during 2015 and 2016 when things were good, and he is the same manager since then.

To paraphrase the former Arizona Cardinals coach, Dennis Green:

The Jays are who we thought they are.

A rag tag piecemeal team put together on the cheap, hoping for a miraculous series of career years to stay competitive.

If they are not going to be competitive I hope they crash and burn very early, the season over by the end of May and the city will abandon them early. We will have gone from living and breathing the Jays as under AA to having zero interest other than making shapeero feel envious of Eugene Melnyk's status in Ottawa. Poor attendance and poor ratings and hence, low profits will also have Rogers breathing down his neck along with the fans and the media.

We had a good thing going before Mr. Big Forehead came along. The only really good players we have left were all AA acquisitions. Maybe I'll start cheering for Atlanta.

gibbons is a liability. he doesn't play Donaldson or Travis in the last 2 tune up games....and so they start 0 for 15. Tonight, he leaves Sanchez in after he walks the bases full and is obviously struggling...and voila 2 more runs.....and his teams never seem ready to play early...but hey he is such a nice guy, who care about winning?

suggested today that he is a political right winger (he should shut up and dribble)...and should stick to baseball

Do you think it matters who manages this team? What manager could make these guys contenders?

Maybe if they were a young team and needed somebody to coddle them as they also taught them how to play the game the right way. But this is a veteran team....of castoffs and retreads. These veterans that shapeero got from the Goodwill store are already supposed to know how to play the game.

Donaldson was already hurting and needed rest plus he insisted he was ready to start the season. Travis is fragile and risking him on a couple of preseason games on strange artificial turf could have been a big mistake. Funny, but I only hear the complaints after the fact, none at the time of those games in Montreal, or even right after the games.

I was off the bandwagon in February. Be prepared for a 100 loss season.

The band aid solutions that Shapeyero came up with in the off season means that Rogers wants to sell the team. MLSE is not interested unless they get a sweetheart deal from the city on a new stadium.

They put a player with a dead arm on the field. Is there anything else that needs to be said?

Shapiro walked into a pretty horrible situation. Overpaid and over the hill is not a good combination, especially for a team with a limited budget. We got to enjoy a few playoff rounds but this is the after affect. 2 or 3 seasons to rebuild with new blood and drop the dead weight of guys like Tulo and martin.

You can make it a write-in vote if you like.

I love the way it only took you 2 games to jump off the bandwagon
Christ man, it was a joke. Obviously they're not going 0-162

That's just a tad extreme. I would consider going from a prediction of 91 wins to 80 wins would be jumping off the bandwagon. That's going from a playoff team to a sub .500 team.

the problem is last wild card is up for grabs so he jays can cock tease us all year but best case is trade able vets have a good year then are traded for youngsters at deadline

gonna be a long year
I would rather they tank quick so we don't get cock-teased. That's what shapeero wants, to keep up attendance and viewership when he has done squat to make any significant improvement.

they could have split some dh at bats....if spring training is to gear up for the season, then you got to play your starters in the last couple of games......as for managers, I would fire Gibbons and bring someone in with fire in their belly...but I know I am a minority......Yankees fired Girardi and he made the playoffs!

The way to get a winner is for fans to stay away untill they are a serious contender. This happened when the Jays won back to back world series. The SkyDome was empty so they bought a winning team.

Sports is a business. If I owned the Jays the bottom line is all I would care about, and it seems to me you want a team that is good enough to make the playoffs then lose exactly as the Jays have been for the last few years. This keeps the fans coming . If you win it all then fans become jaded and will support only a serious contender. The Yankees are the prime example of my theory.

There are exception like the Leafs and Canadians and Packers

Bottom line is why spend all that $ for a winner then lose $ when team falls apart? That would be bad for business.

So, when you criticise management remember WTF they are trying to do - make $ - not build a champion team and current management has been very good at filling seats without outspending everyone, if you had shares in the Jays you would see things in a different light.
