He took the oath and got the badge... and he didn't even try. The Coward of Broward County is the apt title. He now has the rest of his miserable life to think about it.

Paradise by the dashboard light.
It would be a lot more realistic to train a special forces operator to teach high school than the reverse. Maybe make teaching high school an extension of Hell week.
LOL

i always thought my Physical Education Teacher was a SEAL, never got around to asking him

But Trump expects teachers to do it.
And he's not a security guard, he was a fully trained, licensed and experienced police officer.
Cadet Orange expects teachers be commandos while at the same time eliminating public education..."you are a very funny guy Cruz, dat is why I'm going to kill you laast"... I can see that going over well. Are the teachers still allowed to carry assault rifles when they get browned out? Don't expect anything to come from this, the NRA and GOP are happily married.

Unfortunately, 17 people (and their families) won't have that privilege.

Wait for the case to work itself out, he's at least guilty of dereliction of duty
I'm not 100% sure, but I think cops can only get fired for that, but not have their pension $$$$ taken away.

A lawsuit however, brought by the surviving mothers, might be another story

Gun owners in the U.S. have been on a decline for more than 2 decades now.
http://fortune.com/2016/09/19/us-gun-ownership/

Similar to sexual misconduct and bad behavior, gun ownership (even if not illegal) is becoming more and more socially unacceptable. It is possible that no one will want to do business with and/or hire gunowners.

Would not be surprising if an ant-gun lobby group is formed to challenge the NRA. The membership of this group can easily outnumber and raise more funds than the NRA.

There's a lot of blame to go around here. The Resource Officer definitely didn't perform as expected, but then neither did the FBI, or the background check system. Making this one guy the scapegoat is a little too easy.

How about making 2 more cops scapegoats??

If you get called 39 times (or whatever the amount was) to some kids home whom threatens to blow up the place, you might wanna pay more attention. Why else drive over there if you're not gonna do anything??

For those who don't read entire threads, here it is again
Arming people without proper training is not really all that useful. I really doubt the schools are providing weekly target practice for those teachers..... which is what is required to stay sharp and combat ready.

Also, just because some schools are doing it does not mean it is a good idea.

I heard there was an armed teacher at the shooting who ran out of the building and then quit. could be complete crap as I haven't verified it. Correction.... it looks like there was an armed resource officer who did not go in and then resigned.

Isn't FLA a CCW state so I guess the threat of secretly armed teachers did not deter the shooter.... unless there's a CCW stipulation against bringing concealed guns to schools.

Okay, but lets say you're a teacher in the US right now, and your school is getting shot up by a shooter, would you want to be armed or unarmed??

Simple question. Please answer yes/no
