As a non-racing fan I just have to ask--did these ladies actually do anything, or were they purely decorative?

This is the price of being politically correct.

Wonder what will fall next

Purely decorative.

Cheerleaders who can dance, wear nice but not risqué stuff, and actually do what their name describes are fine. Honestly anyone else who's decorative should be gone. I think they distract versus enhance an environment. So good riddance in this case.

They make the athletes work harder.

I agree.

I was at a Leafs game recently. First time in a LONG LONG time. They kept having gangs of young women (and a few men) skate out during commercials I guess and sweep the ice. The young women were all dressed in low cut tight tops and tight fitting yoga pants. The guys were dressed in shirts, vests and pants. You can't help but notice the stupidity of it all.

I'm the furthest thing from a prude, but somehow it just seemed silly.

So all models should be gone? Or are you specifically talking about models at events unrelated to fashion?

Going to guess decorative - similar to UFC girls

Is holding a grid sign or an umbrella over a driver to shade him from the sun or rain doing nothing? I suppose. On the other hand, what's the new criteria for using these lovely ladies in sports? Cheerleaders at sporting events or girls who shovel the ice at hockey games during TV timeouts are okay, but not the ones who hold a grid signs or umbrellas?

I hate to use the term slippery slope, but where does this end?

I was mainly referring to sports. For example (and I know this isn't a sport) but the Royal Flush Girls on the World Poker Tour. Absolutely unnecessary. I understand certain things where sex is used to sell but in some cases it's not needed. If I attend an event, it's mostly because I'm interested in the event/sport/players, not the "distractions". I certainly enjoy mascots, especially ones that do something comical.

If you are talking a model at a car show, again, do they need to be skimpy? No they don't. Women can be dressed tastefully and sell something perfectly well.

I'm no prude - but I personally feel it's unnecessary. Similarly, don't think female athletes require skimpy outfits either. If I'm watching them, I'm interested in the sport. I think it's sad when people talk about the outfit Serena Williams is wearing at a tennis tournament.

This is an escort review board so there's no problem with it. And yours is mild in comparison to some others. Time and place bud.

Reminds me of the expression ... ' I'm not a racist but ...' I'm sorry but you are by your own definition - a prude. Women can be dressed tastefully ? ... how do you define tastefully ? ... no bare knees in view ? ... ankles should be covered ? ... your boner looking at them stays under 15 degrees ? Can they look sexy ? pretty ? I like beautiful women and putting them in costumes to add yet another layer of fun to any event is great in my mind.

As for sports dress of womens athletes - their clothing is chosen to for freedom of movement to maximise their performance - not to give a woody to the prudes in the audience. Focus on the performance not their clothing style !

As for my sig: This one has set a record for inquiries !
