Sexual misconduct allegations were made by former journalist Bridget Brown in a blog post Friday.

Paul Bliss, an award-winning CTV reporter and anchor, has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations made Friday by a former network employee of sexual misconduct more than a decade ago.

CTV News Toronto announced the move on its Friday evening broadcast.

“Allegations have been made against a CTV news reporter. We take this very seriously and as a result have suspended Paul Bliss until an investigation is complete,” said Bell Media spokesperson Scott Henderson in a statement to the Star.

Henderson confirmed that the allegations were made by former journalist Bridget Brown, who left CTV in 2015. Brown shared her experience in a Medium blog post on Friday, a decision she made after seeing Bliss’s Tweets and broadcast coverage of the allegations against unseated PC leader Patrick Brown.

Brown said she received a call from the human resources department at CTV just hours after publishing her story.

She's releasing a book soon. Savvy marketing on her part. But it does bring into question the veracity of her story.

This shit is getting out of control. She didn't want to out him but sure left enough details in the story to narrow it down, and then sang like a canary to HR.

And as for Paul Bliss.....I was actually watching the late evening broadcast when the Patrick Brown story broke and Bliss was in studio commenting. Zuraidah Alman asked him for his thoughts on Brown's future. He said bluntly "He's toast". Guess who else is toast.

It looks like the "glass ceiling" problem has been solved. There will soon be no men left in leading positions.

Terb might as well start a sexual assault / harassment section since we're hearing stories about it daily now. Unbelievable.

If it’s one woman coming forward it could be a bad date or a false accusation. But if two or more ladies come forth with similar stories, there’s a high likelihood he has done wrong. That’s the difference between Paul Bliss and Patrick brown.

I just don’t understand how nothing has to be proven and men are just being fired immediately?

He exposed his cock to a newly hired woman? Good she finally had the courage to speak up about this behaviour.

I'm with everyone else in the belief that any person guilty of misconduct should be fired and even jailed. So if he's guilty, may he receive the appropriate punishment.

It's stories like these though that make me wonder and TBH I start questioning the victim. I don't know if this lady is telling the truth or not and yes I get the fact that she did not want to come forward at the time based on her employment. But I'm going to make the following points

1) This happened 10 years ago, not in the 60's-90's. She says the climate has changed and yes it has but wasn't so outta whack 10 years ago. If he had made a move like an unwanted kiss/touch/advance, okay, no point in rocking the boat. The guy allegedly whipped it out and masturbated. I don't think any company 10 years ago would have turned a blind eye to that level of misbehavior. In this day and age of phones, most people can take photos/videos as evidence.
2) She left in 2015. What stopped her from coming forward between then and now?
3) MeToo has been going on for months. Again, what caused the delay?

I'm sorry but I have to say that some women are metaphorically shooting themselves in the foot with their actions after some of these assaults. Sometimes the delay in reporting or what is reported allows men to get away with it because it becomes nearly impossible to prove. Then everything turns into a world of accusation and allegation. Christie Blatchford wrote an article in the Globe about Aziz and mentioned Jian Ghomeshi. The accusers lied and collaborated and he got off, even though he appeared to be guilty of something. Justice prevails because his career is toast but is that enough?

He hasn't been fired. He's suspended (not sure if with or without pay) until the investigation finishes. Legally, they can't terminate him until they can prove something criminal happened. Otherwise that would be a wrongful dismissal.

There is no law in Canada that says you have to keep someone employed - it all comes down to cutting a cheque!
