I switched my plan from Telus over to Fido on Sunday for the 10 gig data 60 dollar plan.
I would have been happy to stay with Telus, but, at the time they said the 10 gig plan was only for new customers, not existing customers.
So, I went to Fido outlet at the mall and switched my number over to them.
The next day Telus, changed their tune and allowed their existing customers to get into the 10 gig plan; but, I was already out of dodge city by then.
There was just one person in front of me at the Fido store on Sunday; but, the next day, Monday, there were like 30 people in a line up to talk to a rep.
It must have been a two hour wait.
They should have just gone to BestBuy mobile because you can port your service over to another carrier from BestBuy mobile too; but, nobody knows this.
These new CRTC rules have made things a lot easier for consumers. Cell phones are not locked anymore and people can port their numbers over to another carrier almost instantly; so the cell phone companies can't lock down and trap their customers the way they used to.
When I was at the mall on Sunday, I overheard a rep telling a customer, "no, I can't give you the 10 gig data , 60 dollar plan. He told her to go to the Virgin Kiosk next door and port their number over to Virgin. Then he told her to come back to him on Tuesday and he'll port her number right back to Telus, and he'll sign her on for the 10 gig 60 dollar plan.
I have no loyalty at all to any cell phone company. If a decent company, ie not Chatr or Freedom, comes out with a 60 dollar 12 gig plan, I'll switch over to them right away.
