Did anyone get this special offer from Rogers, Fido and others?

The phone lines and lineups at stores were crazy busy.

I didn't get that deal as I am not a data user.

However, I got a deal on my internet from Rogers. I just told Rogers that Bell has the same internet deal so they matched.

The deal ended yesterday, and I couldn't get through all day, even with 3 phone numbers and live chat. But, being a long time customer of Rogers, I got through today and they gave me the deal. I went from a $110 6-GB plan to a $60 10GB one. Pretty sweet, but CBC reports that these deals will likely get repeated soon because of competition from Freedom and other newer providers.

No.
Details pls?
They had this special X-mas deal for a limited time 3-4 days only for your cell phone plan get 10GB of Data for $60/month. Rogers phone lines were always busy could not get through. The lineups were huge outside rogers stores. I was calling rogers to get their internet deals (not the cell phone deal) and the phone lines were busy. I managed to get through today and get an internet deal, $65/month for 150mbps download and 15 mbps upload speeds, unlimited internet for 12 months. The cell phone deal ended today.

Don't know how long this will last cause Bell, Rogers, Shaw all want to end net Neutrality. They are playing nice for now but in the end they will figure out a way gouge us again. So enjoy while it lasts.

so the reason bell rogers telus and fido are doing this is to kill the competition by signing up more people against freedom and koodo etc?

how did bell rogers telus and fido figure out to do this all at the exact same time? are they cooperatively talking working together?

My prediction in a few years the price of data will come down as technology advances we have 1gbps soon when 5 and 10 gbps download speeds are available, low band wifi/data will be free.

I heard this plan was available at in-store Bell locations yesterday. A few friends switched, some even bought out their contracts to join on. I believe you needed to bring a device into a plan or buy it at full-price.

I’m with the above who said these deals will probably come back.

Is there a guarantee on how long the plan will last?
Depends who you signed up with.

Rogers/Fido tends to increase the prices later down the road, Bell/Telus is same.
Koodo and Virgin has a better chance for staying the same prices down the road. They have less history of jacking up the prices.

So...thanks to freedom and competition?
You know this just shows how clueless (read stupid) the media is
Even Freedom themselves took to social media and posted the promo frenzy had NOTHING to do with Freedom (although Freedom did counter with a special $50 2 day only plan)

The fight started because Fido (Rogers) went into Telus territory
Well documented
Bell (& Freedom) just got dragged into it

Certainly not
Fido launched a 5GB promo with a 5GB bonus (temporary)
Koodo countered with 10GB

Fido had to contact all the clients they signed up first day asking if they want to change plans (lol @ anyone who says no)

All 4 carriers had major differences in what was offered
Some allowed hardware, some were BYOD, some allow Canada txt only, some were international, some were basic voicemail, some allow volte calling
Plans had some very significant diffs based on how you may use them
