Do you realize how ridiculous your post is?
On the one hand saying that the two state solution is the only one possible and on the other saying that it won't happen until.......
Do you think it is impossible for Hamas to stop violence and accept the idea of peace talks?

And of course peace can't happen until Palestinian factions like Hamas accept peace or get marginalized by Palestinian society.

They already made and held a voluntary ceasefire for a few years, even while Israel was still attacking them and refusing to end the blockade, so yes, Hamas can and did stop violence. They also have stated and placed in their charter that they'd accept the decision of the Palestinian people about peace.

The question is why Israel, which has run a military occupation for half a century, has never settled for peace. They had 30 years before Hamas even came to be.

Why won't Israel accept peace?

Wow. In the past two years, Hamas has blown up a public bus and shot up a market. Nice ceasefire there. And just in the news is a Hamas cell was arrested in October while planning a kidnapping.

But sure, keep on pretending your terrorist buddies are really interested in peace.

Hamas completely rejects the idea of coexistence with Israel but you are ideologically incapable of criticizing them for it.

Unfortunately I see this as idiocy.

The only way I can see to resolve the situation in Jerusalem is one city capital of both states (with treaty guarantees that there is access to the old city for all, and perhaps international guarantors).
I agree, it is idiocy - that's why Trump did it. It prejudices the US influence in the region as an unbiased peace broker by tossing a historic pearl of both sides to one side without an agreement. Not how a real deal maker negotiates.

Once again Russia has offered to fill in the region as an unbiased arbitrator. Trump withdraws US leadership from the world and Russia moves in. NATO, Europe, asia ... Putin's efforts to put Trump in the white house are paying gold.

You do remember that Putin stepped into Middle East while Obama was the President, right? And what's with the "honest broker" bs? Honest broker is a Canadian myth, a code phrase that means impotent. America is not and never was the honest broker in the Middle East. That's just another lie to use against Trump. America has interests and alliances in the region it had them since at least the time of FDR, all through the cold war, fall of Shah, etc. By definition, you cannot be any kind of honest broker, if you take sides. And that's what Americans have done in the region since they've been there. Reading these comments, I feel like I'm living in a fucking twilight zone.

An honest and practical move on Trump's part. It's so refreshing in politics.

You are living in the Twilight Zone. Trump wasn't president when they invaded the Ukraine yet the difference is that Trump the buffoon has done everything his lord master Putin could ever hope. Reluctant to condemn Putin and actually openly admiring the man that made him president - Trump has weakened Nato, antagonized N Korea, withdrew / threatened international trade (allowing China & Russia enhanced trading status) and insulted leaders in England, France & Germany.

Anyone supporting Trump now with the multiple international faux pas and his support of bigotry and hate groups that is tearing the US apart - must be immune to reality.

An honest and practical move on Trump's part. It's so refreshing in politics.
It's an idiot move and opposed by 85 different nations including Europe. Trump's stupidity displayed - over and over again - the buffoon makes the USA loose international credibility. The whole wold is wrong except Trump .. really ? Your Trump kool-aid is fogging your judgement.

ROFLMAO!!! Obama allowed ISIS to be born and thrive. The Obama's vacuum brought in Putin into Syrian conflict. Obama's weakness led to Russian grab for Crimea and a sellout of the nuclear Ukraine/Russia deal. Not to mention the reversal on the missile shield in Central Europe on September 17th- of all dates!!! Fucking shmuck! Going in circles, kissing asses, "resetting" and getting dick in return. Sure, it's Trump's fault... and Mike Harris's.

...
Now Palestinians will just go straight to the ICC and UN....
And what will the UN or ICC do to punish the US for their statement?

Considering Omar al-Bashir was just hanging around in Turkey, I doubt anyone in the region has the slightest interest in the actual purpose of the ICC.

Umm, you do realize that Russia had military bases in Syria before the civil war right?
Bases? Russians had access to naval facilities at Tartus, under the old agreement with the senior Assad. That was the "bases" in Syria. Russians have not been active participants in the ME since the mid seventies because it's a shit hole with shifting loyalties and a very expensive shit hole. Obama's inaction solved both of those problems for Putin. He became a central player with a very little financial commitment and the threat to Assad's survival from internal and external pressure gave Putin a vassal.

I think I may have asked you previously but I don't think you answered. What do you consider Palestine?
There is no Palestine, there's just apartheid Israel right now.
Borders would be up to Israelis and Palestinians, or the ICC/UN if that fails, should it ever happen.
And whether that's 1947, 1948, 1967 or Oslo is up to the participants or the ICC/UN, not me.
But realistically, its just apartheid Israel right now.

The ICC investigation is 'progressing well' as they have stated.
Israel is starting to really worry about a number of possible charges, the most obvious being apartheid, transfer of population, the occupation itself but also issues like torture.
