Great list takes me back to high school and university years. I would add the following:

Coldplay - parachutes..
foreigner - foreigner....no title, featured cold as ice
Sting - dream of the blue turtles.

I've included sting even though he had his start much earlier with the police - outlandos d'amour not bad for debut album.

I find majority of bands have a strong debut, maybe 2nd
But later albums in general start to suck
Very few can keep producing quality

So true. There's a saying in the industry: you have your whole life to write your first album, and six months to write your second.
