This helps to further the argument about citizens being better armed to prevent or limit something like this:

If somebody in the crowd had a rocket launcher, they could have fired into his room and prevented a lot of these deaths. NRA wants more weapons out there for exactly this reason.

WRONG!!!

All you have to do is buy a "bump stock" on Ebay and you can convert a semi AR-15 into a full automatic.
Its perfectly legal. It might not be so legal anymore after this horrific shooting though
It is a loophole not a violation, in other words the rile has not been converted to automatic fire. You are right, however, that it should be banned.

Simple explanation for those who don't know. "Bump firing involves bracing the rifle with the non-trigger hand, releasing the grip on the firing hand (leaving the trigger finger in its normal position in front of the trigger), pushing the rifle forward in order to apply pressure on the trigger from the finger, and keeping the trigger finger stationary. During a shot, the firearm will recoil ("bump" back) and the trigger will reset as it normally does; then the non-trigger hand pulls the firearm away from the body and back to the original position, pressing the trigger against the stationary finger again, thereby firing another round when the trigger is pushed back. Needless to say a special stock is needed to avoid shoulder damage. The drawback of decreased accuracy with this technique eliminates real tactical advantage, save at close range where accuracy is not really an issue."

Horrible, simply horrible but unfortunately, expected. The outrage in America will die down in a day or two and people will become complacent again. Politicians get paid to argue on either side of the issue and the gun control laws won’t change until America’s fascination with guns changes. That won’t be in our lifetime. Terribly sad to think of it that way.

I watched some witnesses video footage and the rate of fire was slower than an AR15. Must have been a bigger gun, maybe a Rambo mini m60. Americans love their guns. Ugh

Dont forget all the NRA propaganda about how they feel bad for victims but need to protect the rights of law abiding US citizens who require anti-tank weaponry to protect their homes from random black teenagers

To be fair, Stephen Paddock avoided being robbed by black teenagers.

It sounded to me like an AK-47 derivative.... could be wrong of course as I am no expert. But AR-15 converted to full auto can fire 900 rpm, in 10 min response time that is 9000 rounds. Its amazing only 50 people are dead.

How some can find humor/sarcasm at this time is as disturbing to me as the incident itself that unfolded in Vegas last night.
My sarcasm was intended to be a serious rebuke of the gun lobby types and their ridiculous arguments to encourage the increased availability and purchase of firearms.

It's because of the INSANE gun culture that has taken hold of the United States in the last 20 or 30 years.

I'm not an expert, but I believe in the last 20 years or so, more and more states allow people to walk around with fire arms, either fully visible, or concealed. I believe most states now allow a person to "conceal carry" a firearm provided they have a permit (which is a joke). To Canadian sensibilities, this is FUCKING crazy. You see pictures of red necks walking around Walmart with high powered assault weapons that can blast through an inch of steel armour plate.

The problem is you could outright ban the sale of the firearms in the USA (not going to happen ever) and it would take 500 years or more for them to fade from existence.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a shooting that killed at least 50 people and wounded over 400 in Las Vegas early on Monday, and said the attacker had converted to Islam a few months ago.
"The Las Vegas attack was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried it out in response to calls to target states of the coalition," the group's news agency Amaq said in reference to the US-led coalition fighting the group in the Middle East.
"The Las Vegas attacker converted to Islam a few months ago," Amaq added.
A senior US official, however, discounted ISIS’ claim of responsibility.

There are reports the Las Vegas shooter Steven Paddock was a radical Democrat who despised President Trump and supported Rachel Maddow.
The suspects social media was covered in democrat groups and anti Trump bullshit, if anybody cares.

He's a terrorist, bottom line.

2010 Nevada Code
TITLE 15 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS
Chapter 202 Crimes Against Public Health and Safety

NRS 202.4415 "Act of terrorism" defined

1. "Act of terrorism" means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to:
(a) Cause great bodily harm or death to the general population; or
(b) Cause substantial destruction, contamination or impairment of:
(1) Any building or infrastructure, communications, transportation, utilities or services; or
(2) Any natural resource or the environment.
2. As used in this section, "coercion" does not include an act of civil disobedience.

RIP to the victims and their families. Praying for those who are wounded.

Why isn't this labeled as an "Teroristt Attack" when it clearly is??

Man I thought every psychopath was linked to ISIS???

Maybe Trump should have a travel ban for Nevada since most terrorists are in house and have lots of guns??

.
If you're gonna call him a terrorist you should at least spell his name right, probably you're looking at the wrong guy.
Only thing I've heard is that he may possibly had large gambling debts.

Australia did it but it wasn't popular or easy. Now 85% support the laws and another 45% want even stronger ones.

I figure ISIS would claim this one. They must be drooling with the result. I half expected them to take credit for the hurricanes.

BTW: Phil ... your choice of women is amazing !

If this woman approached in a strip club - she would have my wallet and car keys without me leaving my chair.
