If you do have binoculars, you can use them similar to the pinhole idea above.
Do not look through them; point the big end at the sun and hold a piece of paper about 10" away from the eyepiece. You should see a bright spot, and with adjusting the focus ring you will see an image of the sun on the paper.
You can try it out in advance. If done right, you'll be able to see any current sunspots on the sun.
