I'm not really sure I understand the examples as those guys were all going into their FA years when they were re-signed.

Agree, even if we win Sunday, taking 3 of 4 from Astros, we are still well under .500 and there are too many holes in this team to make a serious run at the playoffs.
Better to retool quickly and go for it in 2018.

Will you stop with this X# of games back crap!?!? They need to string a bunch of wins together if they are going to get there. So far that has not happened! If they win today awesome, if they don't same shit different day! Ever so often they look like the team the fans expected them to be, yesterday was one of those days. Unfortunately those days have been uncommon this year and unless we see some consistency soon, this season is TOAST!4 games back now.
