He'll get away with it because he's a (hypocritical) Liberal.

If Bill O'Reilly had said same thing everyone from the Left would be calling for boycotts

If Bill O'Reilly had said the same thing, you would be calling him a (hypocritical) Liberal.

Way to go Colbert for saying what everyone is thinking.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYBzDd6cstQ
Everyone? Almost 63 million people voted for the person this prick is insulting and that's not the way to change the status quo, as Hillary discovered. There's nothing wrong with playing to the choir, but I better not hear complaints about the drastic decline in civility and out of control partisan divide. If anything, the Trump's victory really unhinged the entertainers and the media. This is good, I think, no more pretending, hiding behind journalistic integrity and principles of fairness and impartiality. Everyone will have to fight in the open, in the arena of ideas and policies. Judging by the outcomes of the state and local elections, in the last decade, it will be a rather one sided contest. I think that the likes of Colbert know that, and all they have left is crude "humor".

But Bill O'Reilly is not a comedian. You did not understand the context and audiences of both men.

Colbert was on point with what he said, tho his homophobic joke about Trump and Putin could be done without.

I can see why some would find this offensive.

He gets some leeway being a comedian.

While vulgar he has a political point rather than say a comedian who specializes in being vulgar (dating myself but someone like Andrew Dice Clay).

That's a good try jcpro but there is no arena of ideas and policies, each side is destroying American democracy through gamesmanship. The USA is ungovernable, humour is better than anger.

Trump is nobody's bitch.

Trump and Putin are both alpha-males, so they have a mutual respect for each other

Since it's ok for the POTUS to behave this way, then I'm fine with the media and entertainers being the same way.

And that "prick's " ratings are huge. According to the Donald, ratings are the most important thing.
They are huge because America is a big country with a lot of people. But, here's a little perspective, in a country of 320 million about 3.2 million watch Colbert. When the advertisers pulled out, O'Reilly was pulling in about 3.6. So, while Colbert is leading the ratings for the late night shows, he's reaching but a fraction of the population while burning bridges with tens of millions of people. He created a little controversy, helped his career (maybe), but, in the end, he helped to further fragment the viewership and ensured that the universalism of Carson will never return again. And that I do mourn, the death of class and civility, the fact that, at the end of the day, we cannot just sit down, pour a drink and laugh. Together.

Oh, no? Consider this, Rush Limbaugh is pulling in over 13 million listeners, every day. Fox News did not happen because the marketplace was saturated with the even handed journalism. Trump happened because the Republican Party bought the story lines coming from the Comedy Channel and mistaken them for the main street sentiment.

As opposed to "grab her by the pussy"

That little ditty came from the president of the United States people.

The man said he thinks that sexual assault is how you get women in bed.

So tell me, which is worse, "grab her by the pussy" or "Putin's cock holster"
