Not being part of those sort of meetings I can't tell you. Are you privy to that info? Also, isn't there some sort of time sensitive prayer in the mulsim faith that happens in the afternoon? Something that other religions don't have.

Also, what is your problem with setting aside an unused room for kids to pray?
I guess we both don't know how those meeting went,...

Are you telling me that ALL other religions do NOT have "some sort of time sensitive prayer" in their religion,...???

And are the kids simply praying,...or is "religion" also being taught.

WHY,...???

All religions are just various versions of the same theme,...some more oppressive than others, a single one time session of what religion is,...and we are done.

Then back to keeping religion out of PUBLIC schools.

Worked with a guy who took Friday afternoons off,...because of his religion,...anybody else, regardless of religion, would be shown the door.

FAST
WHY because I'm sure many muslims don't know much about Christians and vice versa. Same goes for what people know about Jews. Most kids just know stereotypes.

Even if religion is taught if it is done on their own time it is an extracurricular activity and doesn't affect the other kids.

You tell me do Christians or Jews have a time sensitive prayer?

Non catholics are allowed but don't they have to take the religion classes etc?

Cardinal Ambrozic is a very popular school. Parents line up the night before to try and get their kids enrolled, not all are successful.

Don't tell anybody but Catholic elementary schools are quietly admitting non-Catholics.

I've seen Jehovah's witness kids opt out of the Anthem and I am fine with that too.

Yet again an example of a demand.

My point is that if you send your kid to a Catholic school as a non catholic it means you are okay with them being exposed to Catholocism

There was a grain of substance in my earlier post that got you so offended and the grain was this...

There are a LOT of people who believe in religion in this province. Some are powerful. Some are not. You don't believe in religion. In fact, you despise it. You have every right to your own opinion. So do they.

You have a constitution which protects your right to have your own views about religion. That constitution also protects them. It protects them against people like YOU. People who consider their own views so inherently superior that they should be forced on those that disagree with them. You don't believe that religion should be observed in schools. Other people do. The constitution mandates accommodation to everyone's beliefs. You - or probably your kids or grand kids - don't have to go to Muslim or Jewish or Christian prayers at school. You don't get to ban those prayers.

Like I said. Go complain to a bench of judges and then THEY can tell you to your face that it's people like YOU who make constitutional protection necessary for everyone.
Your entire response is in error
You do know they already have a supreme court decision on this and the constitution does NOT protect religion in schools

Justice Clément Gascon pointedly noted, “Sponsorship of one religious tradition by the state in breach of its duty of neutrality amounts to discrimination against all other such traditions.”

Don't forget that the TDSB has a "black" school and a school for LGBT so yes groups have made demands other than just Muslims.

Also, superintendents get calls EVERY day from all sorts of people. Most of it never makes the news so let's not pretend white Christian parents are quiet sheep.

Non-Catholic parents who send their kids to Catholic schools know they produce the best graduates. Don't think they are concerned about exposing their kids to Catholicism which is actually far from being the worse thing to happen to their kids.

Who cares what the specifics are of every fricken religion,...just have ONE single class in a grade were the students are intelligent to understand, to explain what religion is,...no specifics of each religion needed,...and we are done.

And whose is to say that teaching the specifics of those three religions wouldn't strengthen "know stereotypes",...I'm willing to bet it would just create MORE animosity.

Also,...there are other religions other than the big three,...it shouldn't take pressure from special interest groups to have their religion front and center.
That's why it is best to keep them all out of PUBLIC schools.

IF religion is being taught in public schools, during class time,...then it has to go,...no if or buts.

I have no fricken idea,...and don't care,...and once again with the preferential treatment of just three religions.

Hopefully the guy who took Fridays off made sure to leave with his work finished?

But honestly I don't see a problem with that either..... as long as I knew that when hiring him I could work around it. Does he get paid for taking Fridays off?
AH,...but you see,...IF you had to pick between two equal candidates,...and IF this guy actually brought up his need to take Friday afternoons off during the interview,...and you didn't hire him,...guess what happens next.

He was followed,...and didn't do shit with his religion,...he was also useless,...previous Ontario Hydro employee,...no need to explain that,...so it was easy to fire his ass.

See the problem was the person not the religion.

i know people who miss work due to their kids hockey and many other reasons. as long as they do their job i have no problems.

rare is the job where a schedule cant be flexible.

The issues here are that people are bent out of shape over an extracurricular activity with the assumption thay other religions dont get accomodations.

Dont forget that if you are christian you are heavily accomodated....schools are closed on your holidays. Even if you wanted to send your non christian kid to school on easter you are shit out of luck.

The idea the muslims are the only group that asks for things is flat out false. A large part of a superintendents job is fielding complaints and they take all shapes and forms. Just because you havent heard about ut doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Lets not forget this one made the news thanks to the koran ripping ignoramuses.

Think people need to save their outrage or at least acknowledge their outrage is based on not having the full picture.

That is the reason for the protest mentioned in the OP post. Get rid of religion in our public schools. No religion, no protest.
i think it is a fair distinction to split schools between in class and extracurricular.

Ironic don't you think when you consider how hard blacks fought AGAINST segregation.

We all need to get along.
