I guarantee you most cops are thrilled they dont have to act like they want to participate in that nonsense anymore
Expect the cops that participated where volunteers. On radio talk show a lady, who is a correctional officer going through some sex change was sounding very disappointed she could not be involved.

I have walked through the event many times over the years, and it always feels friendly and fun. Think when Pride starts telling people and groups, who have the best intentions, that they are not welcomed it puts a dark cloud over the event.

I can't understand why a straight cop would want to be in pride? They do know it's a gay event right?
To show support? Many people in attendance of the parade are not gay.

Toronto will never ban the Gay Pride Parade, its turned a profit every year. Homophobic jokes aside.

As for BLM, there will come a time that they should realize that you can persuade better with honey than with varsol.

Muslim At Toronto Protest ‘We Must Become The Enemies That Sows Terror In Their Hearts!
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/201...must-become-enemies-sows-terror-hearts-video/

"Black Lives Matter (BLM) held a protest at the American consulate in Toronto on Saturday where the co-founder of BLM, Yusra Khogali accused Justin Trudeau of being a white supremacist and terrorist."
There is something like over 30 ethnic/religious groups in Canada. It is always the same two that are shit disturbers. We rarely if ever hear from the other 28, they're too busy making an honest living and taking care of their families.

Shame on the Gay Pride organizers. No backbone whatsoever. BLM is an anarchist organization they should not be dictating anything.

If I'm Chief Saunders I issue this statement to the organizers. "We will respect your wishes. But should you require police presence in order to maintain safety or diffuse a situation let it be known we will use our discretion as to whether we show up or not." Then see how they react when they can't get liability insurance :)

Unlike EMS, I don't think our police have discretion.

Anyway, Pride have their own "marshals" to maintain peace and order. Ha, ha, ha.

Yes I know you're right they are deemed an essential service. I just think this is such a regressive decision in so many ways. Shameful really.

That's the way I see it too.
Gays always want everybody to be tolerant of them, but they're rarely willing to be tolerant themselves.

I'm sick of their drama bullshit

Those that want to cause trouble have just been notified that this years march is a good opportunity.

Actually Phil in speaking to several friends they are pissed at the hijacking by BLM and the way the Pride executive have caved to PC. They were blindsided.

I'm getting the feeling that BLM is going to make a hash of this year's parade, the way Caribana was before professionals without an agenda was, and the larger Gay community will step in and remove them.

The police have IMO done the right thing. They can't win a war of words with BLM either until they fuck up. So they are going to wait and watch. Let the Gay community handle this because it's in essence an internal problem.

A few more comments like this and sponsors will leave. I would imagine a Councillor like Christian Tam-Wong is getting a continuous earful as well.

I predict that BLM will hijack the parade this year. It worked so well for them last year and the cowards at Pride will cave again.

Are you afraid of being around gays?

It's a good party and good PR for a police force with a past of targeting the gay community.

If the Pride people want to tell the cops that they are not welcome, I guess sadly that is their right. But the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario should withdraw all funding based on discrimination. Simple as that.
Agree with this

i see both sides..... i would prefer police inclusion but the other side is that some gays feel cops are not yet at a point of deserving inclusion. i dont agree with this but this is the argument that has been presented to me by a few gays. obviously they dont speak for all gays but the pov is out there and shouldnt be casually dismissed.

some gays felt the bust of public gays sex was discriminatory. i disagree but again that is a feeling from people within the community.

dont forget cops are welcome to march just not in uniform.

anyways i dont care, i wont be at the parade so they can do whatever they want.

I think it's unfortunate the police won't be entering a float in the parade. There is undoubtedly a history of anti-gay bias in our laws and policing but having a police presence in the parade itself sends a positive message imho. I don't understand BLM's objection and I question whether BLM does in fact speak for the black community.
