Think Comey was in a bad spot with the email investigation. The FBI had to move on Wiener's emails, and one why or another the media would find out. The FBI did have the header data for the emails, and I hope they found something significant before announcing the case was open again.

The FBI did not report that several branches of the FBI are currently investigating the Clinton foundation.
The only way the media would find out is if the FBI leaked it.
The question is why they would release this info, knowing that it would change the election, while refusing to release links between Russia and those same leaked emails.

Its already been stated that releasing the Clinton info was against FBI policy, the same policy he used to not release Russian hacking allegations.
That's what makes him look really bad.

Comey is in a much worse spot now.

Think CNN has turned on Clinton. Maybe the DNC should not have screwed over and embarrassed CNN by being caught feeding town hall and debate questions to team Clinton.

Come on. Washington is a sieve, there is no such thing as a secret unless it clearly is an issue of vital national security.

Oh how about the fact that a large number of the rank and file at the FBI feel that from the facts available practically anyone else would have been charged - and they feel that HRC having gotten "a get out of jail free card" was blatantly political.

What about the fact that the investigation has shown that there is no direct link between the Trump Campaign, or the RNC and the Russian Government or its agents.

Many news articles on this. http://fortune.com/2016/11/01/james-comey-clinton-email-investigation/

But perhaps it's because the system is rigged, corruption... Need to drain the swamp.

Comey is in a much worse spot now.
He will be in a very bad spot if nothing significant is found in these new emails.

FBI had a long standing policy of not commenting on investigations, and a second long standing policy in not acting within 60 days of an election. Comey broke both of those policies.

And yes he's PUT HIMSELF into a bad spot. He's commented enough to cause damage to one candidate but not enough to provide transparency to voters.

That's fucking idiotic.

Now having violated FBI policy against refusing to comment he really should open up the books and show his entire hand.

Voters need to know definitively whether he considers Clinton a target, and whether be has any reason to suspect her of any wrongdoing.

My bet is the answers to those questions are no, and no. Most likely anything in Weiner's email is unrelated to Clinton or implicates a third party like Abedin, eg because Huma shared stuff with her husband that she shouldn't have.

But Comey needs to come out and say that. "At this point we have no reason to suspect Clinton of any wrongdoing bit we are just being diligent in checking everything" versus "At this point we have specific evidence of possible wrongdoing that we are trying to confirm".

He's already broken the no comment rule I don't think he gets to invoke it.

Think they would have gotten a search warrant if their wasn't something? I'm betting some recognized Clinton emails and reported it.

This is only beginning fuji. Win or lose she is going to have her hands full.

Hello? Did you miss the posts on Secretary Weinberger being indicted four days before the election likely costing President Bush 41 a second term (and then the whole thing being thrown out shortly after the election).

Or Senator Stevens being indicted in the middle of his reelection campaign - once again the whole prosecution having fallen apart after he was defeated in the election.

That article doesn't explain why Comey would justify not releasing information stating that Russian hackers are trying to alter the election because it was too close to the election and why he would release these vague documents on Clinton, single handedly changing the election more then Russian hackers. The double standard and his history makes Comey look incredibly suspect in the matter.

Absolutely.

And he will need to let the US know why he wouldn't discuss Russia's hacking of the Clinton emails and attacking the elections.

You can't base a search warrant to read the emails on the contents of the emails, soooo....

The law is specific to federal employees like Comey.

O

OnTheWayOut

In fact the Democrats filed a formal complaint. A federal employee is prohibited from using his office to influence an election. What else can you call Comey using his position as a pulpit to criticize Clinton for perfectly legal behavior?
Don't blame the messenger, blame the criminal: HRC

O

OnTheWayOut

Except she ACTUALLY did nothing wrong. No amount of "meta data" is going to show otherwise. She used a private server. So fucking what.
Repeating a lie over and over will never make it a truth.
