Some thought should have been given to replacing Mr. Gibbons.
Right. Shapeero made a spontaneous decision without considering the options. He seems like the impetuous type. He might not have even realized that he had to make a choice.

Not going to offer up any suggestions but as a generalization, the Jays need to get younger. They are the oldest team in MLB.

Good run. Gave us some great moments (Donaldson dash).

Absolutely say goodbye to Cecil, Dickey & Saunders.

I think EE will be back, while JB walks.

I really hope EE returns. He obviously loves being a Jay. Cecil and Saunders too, unless they price themselves stupidly.

With 3 (?) strike-outs on bad calls the umpire couldn't have done a better job on EE for Cleveland if they'd paid him.

Well, I for one didn't think they'd even make the playoffs, but they did and that was a great accomplishment. I knew they wouldn't get beyond this point, even after they beat Texas, a series that I thought was it for the Jays.

As far as the future goes, I think that the Jays have a good foundation, but Bautista has to go, he is a cancer on this team.

Our pitching is fine, we just need some good .avg hitters. Maybe look for a true leadoff hitter

Toronto actually got more hits than Cleveland.
"Toronto hit .201 (32-for-159) in the series. Amazingly the Indians hit .168 (25-for-149) and still won"

Unfortunately, Cleveland outhomered Toronto 6-2. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto hit into more DP's than Cleveland.

Since the NL still have at least two more games to go, this will give the depleted Cleveland pitching staff more R & R time.

I'm still pissed we lost to a rook named Merritt who was asked to give 3 innings but was left into the 5th since he was throwing a no hitter against are vaunted offence.
This after getting a huge break when Bauer's sliced finger starts to bleed profusely and Cleveland has to use the bullpen from the 1st inning. Equally shocking and embarrassing that we cannot beat them and lose game 3.

In my 30+ years of following baseball, never seen such a talented bunch of hitters on paper, tank so badly as the Jays from Sept onwards.

The first 6 wins in Oct were all pitching. Which gives some hope for 2017.

Merritt gets the Ross Stribling award for best performance against the Jays by a no name pitcher

It also reminds me the Jays just brought in a new a horse trader in Ben Cherington. Let's hope he will find the next Mookie Betts for the Jays.
It would suck to be the Jays GM, not only do you have Shapiro above you now they bring in Cherington and make him VP.
Besides Betts Cherington gets credit for Bradley Jr. and Bogaerts, however he is also responsible for signing Sandoval 5yrs/95m, Cuban Rasney Castillo still in the minors, and trading for Allen Craig in the minors @9M.

Every G.M. makes mistakes, and makes good moves, that's part of the job.

I am kind of disappointed with Pompey. He has been around the Jays for more than 2 years or something. Too much hype with no substance I guess.
Yeah, time to wash the Blue Jays hands of a player who is 23 years old.

A quick look at 3 players that have been all-stars for Toronto recently:
Jose Bautista, figured it out at age 29.
Edwin Encarnacion, figured it out at age 28-29
Josh Donaldson, figured it out at age 27-28.

But yeah, let's give up on Dalton Pompey at 23.

^^^ agreed.

Pompey also looks like he needs to hit the weight room and bulk up a bit
