It's bad enough our Liberal government changed the lyrics to appease a special interest group and attempt to gain cheap brownie points now we have some lame duck group trying for some cheap publicity by trying to create some "controversy".
What special interest group?

"thy sons" was not the original, that change was made (allegedly) to encourage enlistment in the armed forces in World War 1.

Pomeranz just got traded to the Red Sox. I love this time of year with all the crazy tradings before the trade deadline. The Red Sox has started so the fun has begun! Is it possible Jays dare to eat some contract on Greinke?

Alright, the AL east race just got interesting. Don't know if the Jays have any good assets to trade, or we just have to stand pat and hope some arms in the bullpen steps up.

I've having BJ withdrawl so during this hiatus I'm ending up visiting a lot more SP's for my BJ fix. :)

"...Acquiring Jay Bruce a few months after an attempt to trade Saunders for him failed, slotting Bruce into right field, moving aging, low-range outfielder Jose Bautista to DH, sliding Edwin Encarnacion to first base, and pushing weak-hitting Justin Smoak to the bench."
This sounds like a good idea from a so called analyst if Sharpie&Co can pull it off. It will also be a bonus if Bruce can hit lefties such as a Price or a Pomeranz!

Doesn't work going forward if they can't re sign JB and EE. Very good chance both these sluggers will be gone after this season.

It becomes a moot point IF they go on to win the WS this year. Bruce will replace JB and keep EE as guys like to play for the world champion:)

with all the talk about limiting innings for Sanchez...why isn't there concern for Stroman? They could have held them both back a bit more this week. Start Dickey tonight and Wednesday....Hold Stro till Sunday and Sanchez till Tuesday (I didn't get my paper today so I don't know who is starting Saturday and Sunday)...and give Hutch a couple more starts

7 runs no extra base hits. thats pretty unusual. Hope Stro can hold on.

Edit. Nope bad Stro showed today giving up 7 runs and the lead.

Another shit performance by Stroman, can't hold a 4 run lead.
And the A's are a terrible line-up, little better than AAA! What will he do against the O's or Sox??!!

He should be sent down.

He should be sent down
A little too early to send him down, but there will be a breaking point if he keeps pitching like this. The problem with many 2nd year baseball players is they go through a bad year. They even have a term for it, its called the "sophomore jinx" (I'm counting Stroman's 2014 and 2015 season as one)

There was a guy named Alvin Davis for Mariners who had it really bad his 2nd year, went from hitting almost 30 homers to just 18 dingers.

I think Stro will (eventually) come around, its just gonna take time

The sophomore jinx is kinda charming when you're out of contention but we're trying to win the WS This year. I like Stro and has the potential to be a star for a many years. But he is the worst starter for us this year and is hurting our chances of making the playoffs.
We were up 7-3 against a weak hitting team. Completely winnable game.

Where was his dominant stuff he had against KC. It was breaking sharply down; yesterday, it went back to the lateral tailing stuff they hammered away. They claimed he had fixed his mechanics issue. As said before, we need 3 of 4 QS from him. He had 2 against KC and Chi before, so I suspect his next start will be a make or break for the Jays decision makers. As we go deeper into the pennant race, I can see their patience running out.

OTOH we have a starter who has gone 5.2IP with 2ER and 6IP with 3ER and the team has won both his starts. 1 out from 2 quality starts, ya say?
Unfortunately his name is Drew Hutchison whom everyone hates. I think I led his hate club last year despite his 13-5 record. But put those numbers beside any other name and we'd be giving him a chance.

with all the talk about limiting innings for Sanchez...why isn't there concern for Stroman?
a) Cuz Stro is not the same level of talent as Sanchez
b) Stro has pitched 166IP in 2014 including his minors. The magic increase is 20% annually (if you google) so he should be good for 200IP this year. (BTW, I don't buy the 20% theory but that's what the inning counters believe).
If he keeps getting knocked out in the 4th, We have bigger problems than his 200 innings limit.

Fuck, I'm sick of this little hot dog Stroman. He's not as good as he thinks he is. 7 runs and facing that piss poor lineup, that should've been a guaranteed win.

what I don't understand is why he was the starter in first game after break........I would have started Happ and then follow with Dickey......then spot start Hutch on Sunday......... Last night was one of those games that championship teams don't lose. Another bp shuts down JAYs for 5 innings

Jays give Justin Smoak 2-year, $8.25M extension. Option for 3rd.

So we'll continue to hear: a swing and a miss on that curve and Smaok strikes out.

It seems there is more urgency to keep him than EE or JB.
