With so much to cover I hope they don't leave any plot holes. I was reading online that there are only 2 more seasons until the end of the series but I am not sure how true that information is. Hopefully they stretch it out a bit as it's the best show ever! There are many open storylines in GoT, and seemingly little plot left to cover, if popular theories (many mentioned above) are correct.
Jon Snow would be Dany's nephew - popular theories have long had them getting together as "Ice" and "Fire" (remember the title of the first book?) That Dany needs an alliance with the King in the North seems simple enough to set up; that they are related is no impediment to their nuptials (being accustomed to, umm, keeping it in the family).
But nobody knows Jon's parentage but us, and Bran - so he still has a role to play in letting others know. And some theories have him in a time loop as the three-eyed raven - basically that he wargs into others to tell Jon what needs to be told - then stays in the past and grows roots into the tree .. until many years later when he meets his younger self in the previous season.
The Lannisters have no money - despite Cersei assuming the Iron Throne, she has no army and the Tyrell's money is now working against her. The Bank of Braavos is unlikely to extend further credit. Jamie has the Lannister army at his command, and he has been developed into a more significant character, but even Stannis could take Kings Landing in a walk if he attacked today instead of earlier.
We haven't heard from Mormont since he was sent on his Quest for a Cure .. we'll probably see a few minutes over the next two seasons with stories about him, the Dornish, the Brotherhood, Arya, Brienne, etc .. but they seem to be developed as diversionary characters rather than the main plot.
But we shall see ..
Rumor is that they're also shortening the seasons, so that there's only 13 episodes left...in total! That hasn't been officially stated yet, but they did scale back on their number of directors for season 7. You can take from that what you will. With so much to cover I hope they don't leave any plot holes. Actually, it has been confirmed by the show runners David Benoiff and D.B. Weiss in an interview with Deadline:Rumor is that they're also shortening the seasons, so that there's only 13 episodes left...in total! From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that’s what we’ll end up with. Call it 73 for now. What Dan says is really true, but it’s not just trying not to outstay your welcome. We’re trying to tell one cohesive story with a beginning, middle and end. As Dan said, we’ve known the end for quite some time and we’re hurtling towards it. Those last images from the show that aired last night showed that. Daenerys is finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow is king of the North and Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne. And we know the Night King is up there, waiting for all of them. The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game. The thing that has excited us from the beginning, back to the way we pitched it to HBO is, it’s not supposed to be an ongoing show, where every season it’s trying to figure out new story lines. We wanted it to be one giant story, without padding it out to add an extra 10 hours, or because people are still watching it. We wanted to something where, if people watched it end to end, it would make sense as one continuous story. We’re definitely heading into the end game now.
They said another 13 - 15 hours of the show is left. I think they are going to have the regular one hour episodes, then maybe a two hour finale.I hope since they are cutting down on the number of episodes per season, that each episode will be longer. At least 90 mins.
Yes, the pacing isn't really the greatest. That was a big mistake in season 5, where the first several episodes were somewhat dull, but the last few episodes were incredible. They didn't really learn a whole lot from that....They had a few episodes this season where not enough happened IMHO, then some that were off the charts EPIC. So they need to moderate that a bit. If they can deliver have those episodes as epic and the rest as pretty good, then that will be amazing.
Every episode can't be epic, you have to develop plot and characters. When they have characters or storylines, that don't really interest you, the show seems really dull. I thought they spent too much time with Arya training, but they were combining her with other characters from the book. Also those epic episode cost a lot money to make.Yes, the pacing isn't really the greatest. There won't be any war between Littlefinger and Cersei, they don't have time for that secondary strife. Cersei has way bigger fish to deal with, Dorne and the Tyrells, and now comes the Dragon Queen! Plus Littlefinger is going to spend next season, stabbing Jon of Nazareth in the back. All while trying to get Sansa on his side. How long do they tease out the war between Littlefinger and Cersei, now that the former's deception in turning over Sansa is clear?
Noo! I want more. Lol but I get it, there is only so much story to tell. I hope they go out on a high note. They said another 13 - 15 hours of the show is left. I think they are going to have the regular one hour episodes, then maybe a two hour finale.
Since they confirmed R+L= Jon of Nazareth, next season should have flashbacks of Rhaegar.
Yes, tell the main story and not go in circles or off the rails, like a lot of other shows. Plus the production costs are so great, they can't afford to drag it on too long, where the causal viewer loses interest.Noo! I want more. Lol but I get it, there is only so much story to tell.
