These cards are referencing the sex of the holder, particularly in the case of the health card. I'm not sure gender(which is more a cultural and societal choice)should be referenced when referring to these cards. If you have a penis. Your male. That's your biological physical designation. This has been established science through examination and analysis of human anatomy. Your gender is anyone's choice. Your sex is a thing of science. Denial of established physical realities is something the far right and far left sometimes have in common.

There are indeed hermaphrodites. Even the science isn't very simple. But the gender in your licence is not used fit scientific purposes, it is used for identity purposes. As such shouldn't it give the gender you identify with?

My POV is no. It should list the gender you biologically are. In other words, if you have a Y chromosome, you're male, else you're female. This isn't a conspiracy to deprive people of their perception of themselves. It's a physical identifier, similar to height, weight, eye colour, hair colour, etc.

How soon before the Olympics have male, female and others categories? We need more gold medals.

Let me give you an example. Your in an accident .Your unconscious. The EMT is going to be identifying you for scientific purposes. Whether your a male or female is very much going to relate to SOME of the scientific medical treatment you are going to receive. This would relate to both cards. If someone is indeed hermaphroditic they should probably be identified with an H.I get inclusion, individual rights and not being discriminated against, but when individual wishes fly in the face of scientific fact and procedure it makes no sense. Climate change deniers have the same mentality.

I have a cousin who is blind. Blind since birth. He has more then once jokingly said that at this point in time in societies cultural evolution there's a 50/50 chance he could force the federal government to make every public sign(private or governmental) in braille.

EMT doesn't check your driver license to determine treatment.

http://www.breitbart.com/sports/201...s-to-compete-under-gender-they-identify-with/

There’s great news for adventurous male Olympic hopefuls: if they declare themselves women and reduce their testosterone below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to competition, they can compete against ladies.
Do you have a valid source? After Brietbart posted those lies about that Muslim woman who worked with DHS to fight extremism is been clear that Brietbart is a work is fiction.

Exclusive: Read the Olympics' new transgender guidelines that will not mandate surgery

Thanks, but having spent my time debunking numerous lies from Brietbart I see I no merit in it. It's not worth a click.

I see from you new link that this is just a proposal that has not been adopted by the Olympics, versus the Brietbart article that lied and at least in its headline claimed it was a done deal. So once again Brietbart has been caught lying.

The next step is to have age neutral cards by the same logic. Photographs could be used to discriminate according to race, so maybe cards issued with no picture?

What does gender have to do with genitalia?
If you have a pair you're a male. If you don't, you're a female. Everything else is a phsycological disorder and needs to be treated. It's not that hard. Go to a farm and watch a horse being born. If it has a pair it's a stallion. If it doesn't it's a mare. If you cut the stallions balls off you have a gelding.

Not sure why this is so complicated.

The issue is not about sex at birth but what sex or gender a person identifies with. If someone with a penis dresses and looks and acts like a female, 'M' would confuse the identity.

Perhaps if we walked around naked it might be somewhat relevant, but we do not expose our genitalia to identify ourselves in public.
