Blue Jays: 2016 Edition

OPS against = 0.765
WHIP = 1.36
K/9 = 7.52

Marcus Stroman looks like this in 2016;
ERA = 5.33
BAA = 0.283
OPS against= 0.780
WHIP = 1.42
K/9 = 6.31

All metrics materially worse than the league average. Is that "middle of the pack?" Cause that would be new math to me.

Fact is he has now changed his delivery (between the last start and the one prior) within the season. They put up a split screen in highlight package and he has moved his hand positioning in his windup. The league has now seen him enough times to make their adjustments. He didn't play a full year in year one and barely last year. Unfortunately he has not been able to adjust to their new aproach at the plate.

Getting sent to the minors did not seem to hurt his buddy Sanchez after a mediocre stint as a starter last year did it? When he returned, he found his success as a reliever similar to the year prior and that has continued in spades back as a starter this year.

umm if you include the NL, Stroman looks worse because their numbers are lower. He is not middle of the pack he has been borderline brutal.

Don't confuse BBL with math and stats, it confuses his gut feelings. LMAO.
My favorite "bad" metric over his last 8 game slump: OPS against was 1.080!!!
Basically all AL batters are hitting him like David Ortiz! hahaha!

longer than quarter of a season. Two of his last 3 starts weren't bad. I don't care if one was against the phils, they are still a pro baseball team with pro hitters. Yesterday start wasn't that bad. If he had a good start, why are so quick to think he can't turn it around again? Given the fact that 2 of his last 3 starts weren't bad, pulling the rug from him at this point is not the right move.

My thought was that he wasn't fooling anybody, but it does appear that he fooled one person

I think part of this is they are playing in the NL when they would have a much better scouting report due to previous history. As well don't discount the offense. They got to Estrada and Chavez as well.

He had a good string. I'll wait and see if it's a blip.

this is just out untrue. As I said, his era is his 92 out of 150 starting pitching spots in baseball. His ERA is 5.33. David Price who is at 71'st, has an era of 4.68. It's less than a run per 9 innings.

He "was fortunate" to only give up 4 runs??? He gave up 4 runs period. Was it a good start?? No. Was it a bit better than most of last 8? yes. Now you hope is next start is a bit better.


If you would like to bring up Drew Hutchinson because you don't think Stroman should have a bit of a longer leash to try pitch through this, I'm just glad your not the GM of the Jays.

you keep talking about his last 8 games. At what point did I say he's been good his last 8 games??? He has been bad his last 8 games. My point is, his first 8 games were good, to pull the rug out from under him this quick, with nobody better in the farm system doesn't make any sense. Either that, or you perhaps you know someone that Ross Atkins and myself aren't aware of?
