You still have to mail in a passport application including the 2 photos. Can't do that online yet. Shipping and receiving using Canada Post is almost always cheaper than the couriers. If you're not home you can go to a nearby post office, which pretty much everyone in Canada has close by. Courier depots are usually out of the way.Who mails shit anymore.....
Also, banks still cut a physical cheque and send it by Canada Post when you transfer RRSP cash from one bank to another bank. I have no idea why in 2016 they can't send money electronically. Actually, why don't the banks empower the customer and allow them to do the transfer themselves online? You still have to mail in a passport application including the 2 photos. Are you usually home when the delivery is made? I use to have them deliver to my office but the boss said the company is not my personal dropoff box and the mailroom staff is not at my personal disposal.and enjoy having mail and parcel delivery!
I don't know, probably farms with horses and other livestock to fertilizer companies I'm guessing.Who mails shit anymore.....
I believe there is an RSP transfer form you can fill out online or you can call them and they'll do the transfer for you. If they do indeed cut a paper check and mail it to you my guess is that it's just to discourage people to move cash between institutions. That's how they would lock you into one bank. Also, banks still cut a physical cheque and send it by Canada Post when you transfer RRSP cash from one bank to another bank. Not all banks accept the transfer form online. I know of at least one that requires a paper form. Yes, they will send the money to the other institution but will take their sweet time about it and pay no interest. Plus, let's not forget the transfer fee.I believe there is an RSP transfer form you can fill out online or you can call them and they'll do the transfer for you. Amazon probably has a contingency plan in place during potential strikes by postal/mail services around the world.Amazon!

One good thing about the TFSA is that you can withdraw the money personally and then re-contribute it to the other institution the following year (too bad not the same year). You control the process and the timing.
Good point about the Metropass. Soon that won't be a problem as Presto gets rolled out.Amazon probably has a contingency plan in place during potential strikes by postal/mail services around the world.
As for me, I only receive certain magazine subscriptions & my monthly Metropass in the mail. All of my bills are handled electronically (as is my T4 statement). And I'm sure TTC will have a contingency plan in place for Metropass Discount Plan holders.
