Pitching has been their biggest problem, with Greinke the team’s only reliable starter.
And no Stroman so looking for a sweep as DB are 7 under 500 with Greinke winning a third of the games
Send Stroman down and bring up Hutch
Never understood this BS about letting an established player work on mechanics while you lose, that is what the farm system is for

If he was a "power pitcher". His fastball averages 92MPH. People on here call Chris Tillman a soft tosser. His fastball averages 92MPH.
I guess thats a good point. But for a little guy he would be considered a power pitcher since his stuff is not exactly finesse either.
Its not the fastball thats hit out-pitch btw, its his slider.
And his slider is very good when he's on his game
Well he is relying on his below average fastball more than ever in his brief career....the slider which he throws 11% of the time at 85MPH is the slowest it has been since he entered the bigs. Nothing "power" about Stroman.
Are you sure he throws the slider only at 11%?? You got a link for that??

I truly hope Stroman does not become the new Ricky Romero...but there are comparisons...and they were both anointed as ace based on very little history. I think Stro can be a decent pitcher for maybe 5 years. And lets face it...if we had kept Syndegard, we would have a true ace now. Sanchez is more likely to become a 20 game winner, easy 97 with other stuff and big and strong. Any one read anything into drafting a 6 foot 7 pitcher in first round?

His fastball was clocked up around 94 or 95 last year.
You could argue that was last year, and he hasnt thrown that velocity this year, but he's still a youngster, so there's no way to say he couldnt recover his 95 MPH heater.
I say give him some more time
Man, that sucks. I broke my toe once and never missed a hockey game. Guess baseball is a rougher sport than hockey, even though I played both. I mean they play a baseball game almost every day, that's rough.

Too bad our bats went cold last night, once again no run support for our Ace pitcher (reminds me of Dave Stieb who routinely received no run support) as the O's and RedSox both lost also.
He has been incredible how little solid contact he gives up; yeah 2HRs yesterday but his BA on BIP is amazingly low. It's on par with Kershaw. A testament to how well he keeps the batters off timing.
I was actually pleasantly surprised that he signed for $26m/2yr when most of the fangraphs FA projections were saying $36m/3yrs. This is also declining the $15.8m Qualifying Offer. This is all hindsight, but if he continues to pitch this well and accepted the 1 year QO, he would have been in line for $100+m at end of year.
And again the bats went silent against a weaker team.
JB's toe injury is too bad. He's gotta know that the DL time is probably costing him $10-30mil in his next contract.
$10m if he loses say $2mil per year off a projected 5 year. The $30mil if he loses that AND 1 year shortened off a long term contract. I'm sure he's trying to get back ASAP.
