I think John Mayberry perhaps hit the first grand slam HR. Or something like that.

I think Butler is right, he did do something important for the early 70's and 80's Blue Jays

How about making a starter out of Floyd (after all, at end of spring training he was battling with Sanchez for the 5th starter's role, it was close, but sanchez got the nod) and making Sanchez as the set up man ( this will help in nursing along his young and still very inexperienced arm) for Osuna and making Biagini the "Hold" reliever.

Biagini>>Sanchez>>Osuna
I'm not even sure why people are still talking about this....

It's not going to happen and nor should it. Sanchez is one of the best starters in baseball right now. You don't take one of the best starters in baseball and put him in the bullpen.

If/when Sanchez has a couple of bad starts after the AS break, he will be put in the bullpen to save his golden arm.
Not sure Floyd is the answer given his propensity to give up the HR.

Either way Shapiro, get this shit done!!!! Get it done now!!! :frusty:

To me the guy who should go to the bullpen is Marcus Stroman.
Sanchez is pitching like an all star and does not deserve to be ghettoized in the bullpen.

Stroman is pitching like a number 4 or 5 guy in a rotation and not like the ace he fantisizes himself to be.
His effectiveness drops off substancially on the second or third time through the order; but he's very good on the first go around.

It seems like the Jays have lost about 10 games this year because seventh and eighth inning guys have been so god awful.
If you put Stroman in that role he would be infinitely more valuable to the team relative to what he's doing in the starting rotation.

Good clean win against A-Roid and the Yankees.

Where was Cliff Johnson? When he was here the HBP count against Blue Jays batters dropped by 80%. That should count for something. Rougnied Odor would not have punched Boom Bats if he knew that Mr. Congeniality would get into his grill.

Goose Gossage didn't enjoy the experience.

Stroman to the bullpen is interesting and I believe he is also on an inning limit. He is one of the innings leaders this year avg 6.2 per start. He may have pitched 150 ip in total in 2014. so 180 IP may be his limit if you believe in the 20% increment limit.

Great start by Estrada and Goins was the offensive star. Nice to see the Jays are 5-1 without Tulo.

Interesting thought on Stroman in the pen. I know Zaun felt ultimately Stroman would be a bullpen guy when he came up in 2014, in large part due to size/stamina and plane of his fastball.

I never thought of Stroman as an ace anyway. Doesn't throw hard enough.

Marc 00000000 bullpen oh no. Interesting thought Stroman to pen. Question...has any other right handed pitcher his size ever been an all star starter? Cant remember if Tim LIncecum is left or right, Whitey Ford, Ron Guidry were short.lefties..but I think Stroman is shorter....so I have doubts about him being an ace...Sanchez is built like an ace and has the fastball

And on another note , another flawless performance by Zeke the Underrated

Stroman is often compared with Tom Gordon short RH with full 5 pitches (also happens to be AA). I recall Gordon found most of his success as a reliever in his career. I think Stroman will as well but not necessarily this year. the Jays don't have a surplus of starter depth so will use any live arm capable of going deep this year, and worry about next year then.

Lincecum is righty but is 5'11.

Ross Atkins already came out and said they don't think they're even going to put him in the bull pen. Only if he really starts to flounder. There is no pitch inning limit or anything like that.

Rumours flying around the Jays are close to getting Jason Grilli from the Braves.

What the heck are we gonna do with a 39-year old pitcher who has a 5.29 ERA this season?!

http://www.torontosun.com/2016/05/31/blue-jays-set-to-acquire-pitcher-jason-grilli-from-braves

The Blue Jays’ bullpen is about to get a shot in the arm.

The Jays have acquired reliever Jason Grilli from the Atlanta Braves, various reports indicated on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old right-handed Grilli will join a beleaguered Jays bullpen that is 16th in the majors with a 3.89 earned-run average.

Grilli has appeared in 21 games in 2016, compiling a 1-2 record with two saves. He has pitched 17 innings, striking out 23. Grilli has given up 16 hits, walked 13 batters and has a 5.29 ERA.

Going to Atlanta in the trade would be pitcher Sean Ratcliffe, an 18th-round pick by the Jays in the 2013 draft.

Before the trade became public knowledge, Jays manager John Gibbons was asked if he planned to stick with an eight-man bullpen.

“Hopefully not too long,” Gibbons said prior to the Jays’ home game against the New York Yankees. “We have an off-day Thursday, so that will help.”
