The lyrics for mash may have been used, the original intent was they were never to be used. Both Star Trek and M*A*S*H theme lyrics were written in minutes.

WRONG:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Is_Painless

"[Suicide is Painless] was written specifically for Ken Prymus ... who sang it during the faux suicide of Walter "Painless Pole" Waldowski ... in the film's "Last Supper" scene. [Director] Robert Altman had two stipulations about the song for [songwriter Johnny] Mandel: first, it had to be called "Suicide Is Painless"; second, it had to be the "stupidest song ever written". Altman tried to write the lyrics himself, but found that it was too difficult for his 45-year-old brain to write "stupid enough". Instead he gave the task to his 15-year-old-son, Michael.

Altman later decided that the song worked so well, he would use it as the film's main theme, despite Mandel's initial objections.
"

The song was originally intended to be sung with lyrics at the faux suicide/funeral scene. Its use as the theme song sans lyrics came afterwards.

Again, you gave misinformation to the reading audience pretending for it to be accurate truth.

Despite your dismissive rejection of it, Anon1's answer in post #1476 was correct.

Steve, will you be using your new names to answer questions and the old Harper name to be a Smellfungus?

Sorry to disappoint you, my thin-skinned friend. I've only 1 handle on TERB and won't play your silly man-child games. Are you saying that I'm Anon1 or anyone else on this thread? How grossly inaccurate and simplistically-surmised by you.

It's your arrogance of 'never-being-wrong' that keeps me interested in this thread and to correct your un-admitted mistakes. There is no greater service to academia than to remind those who think too highly of themselves that no one is perfect and while we're on this planet, we're all more or less equal. Clearly, humility is not in your vocabulary.

Anon1 was undeniably right in his answer in post #1476. You were wrong. You refused to admit it. All of that is irrefutable fact. Instead of proving me wrong with facts, you resort to 3rd grade name calling & ugly pictures in a poor attempt at schoolyard bullying. That is not the act of a rational thinking adult. It is an indictment on your character and tacitly proves my point.

What's that I hear? Oh, the other kids are calling for you to come back to the sandbox. You better go. You can draw more ugly pictures of me in your colouring book when the teacher lets you back to the classroom.
