Unlike the States where anyone can just walk in and purchase a gun with only a background check us Canadians have to take at least 2 safety courses . 3 if the handgun course is separate from the normal PAL course . Even then your not going to be able to purchase a hand gun unless you belong to a bonafide gun club . You have to submit the name of the gun club that you belong to when purchasing a hand gun . Your not going to be able to take that handgun home that day either . Your application is sent to the RCMP and the ownership is transferred to your name first . The only reason you can give to be able to own a hand gun is target shooting . That's why you must write down the name of the club . Don't lie because they will check .I presume you mean handgun?
Take the weekend course
Fill the Possession and Acquisition License application
Get 3 references including your wife,
Send to the RCMP,
Wait 40 days for your license to be issued
Join a gun club
Do their safety course
Shoot under supervision a half dozen times at the club
Buy a handgun,
Get transfer approval from the OPP...
And you're good to go!
Funny how law bidding citizens have to jump through hoops to own a gun . Wonder if the hoods have passed a gun course or have had a background check down on them .
