I remember the Avro Arrow making test flights and passing over our house, and then going out to Malton airport to watch it land. They were beautiful.
Being a west end boy, one of my earliest and most vivid memories is standing in front of our house with my mom and watching the Arrow approaching Malton...

On the road with Willy
Trudeau mania 1.0
My godmother running up to the console B&W TV and planting a big lipstick kiss on him like a teeny bopper would Elvis.
I also remember her son coming back from a tour in Vietnam. He had joined the US Marines. He was never the same.

I haven't read all the posts so maybe this has been mentioned. You know you're old when you remember it was against the law (in Toronto) to take your drink from one table to another. If you wanted to move, you had to have your server place them on a tray and transport them for you.

And when you broke the blade. You would replace it with one of those plastic ones held on the shaft with a screw. Then hold the blade over the stove element and curve the hell out of it. Then use it for road hockey.

Good memories.

Back in the day, in the winter our school would send the Grade 8 kids out for recess a couple of minutes earlier than the junior grades. This gave them the chance to get out into the field area and make a few snowballs for the fight that would happen when us younger kids got out. It was great fun with the older kids demolishing the rest of us! You just know that this would NEVER happen today...

I played that also, great memories!

As kids we also played "Buck Buck" where one team starts off with one guy bent over hugging a tree, subsequent team members would hug the the member ahead of him by the waist and so forth.
The opposing team would one by one from a running start would jump on the other team, trying to break them down!,, hilarious fun!

Bill Cosby did a routine on Buck Buck

Talk about a change in times...
Who remembers.. first the teacher wacks me with that pointer, then I line up against the wall beside the principals office.
Then into the room where said principal wacks my hands with a strap only to go home where my dad wacked me again.

LOL.. and it was just the way it was.. never thought of it as abuse and always, I repeat, always learned a lesson.

I was busted at the beer store at Markham and Lawrence for "Purchasing and possession of alcohol under the age of 21"
We would drive down to the states where the age was 19
