Query: How do you cross exam a transcript?

Apparently, she or he will swear under oath that Lucy told her about the incident. When (2 days ago), where, how, etc.? Is there any tangible proof such as a date stamped recording, email, text, etc.

Originally the thought was he would. But with the collapse of the crown's witnesses, the defense is probably reconsidering.

The devil's in the details of the judge's ruling but it's not unheard of. Could be the statement is restricted to only certain things that can be independently corroborated (e.g., Facebook postings). Or anything stated is balanced by the judge's discretion to ignore it because there's no cross examination.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the evidence of the 4th witness isn't particularly compelling one way or the other so a written statement is a way of getting it into evidence without the delays of actually calling the witness (and the defense isn't prejudiced because it's not that important anyways).

In advance. Likely defence and crown counsel reviewed the statement and jointly agreed that it could be submitted that way. In other words, having studied the contents of it, defence counsel agreed to waive any further cross examination.

Look again. See if you can identify collusion, choir practice bordering on conspiracy to commit perjury, lying and incomplete statements to the Crown. Am I forgetting anything? We suppose to be on the side of justice. No matter what.

Don't think any of the ladies said they were beaten up.

Have met many ladies who use whips, paddles, and other toys to hit the guys. The ladies have said they hit hard enough to cause some pain, but don't want to break the skin or cause bruising.

The whole entire trial has turned into a steaming pile of shit.

Not one compelling witness. After listening to all the shit over the past week and 2 days, I'm left with a sense of what a complete waste of time.

3 flakes for witnesses. Each of whom continued to pursue Ghomeshi in one way or another after the so-called assault. It begs the question, "if Ghomeshi assaulted you in any way shape or form, why did you continue to see him?" (Sometimes years later in the case of Lucy Decoutere.) They had dinners with him, hit on him, sent pictures in bikinis. In one case, one woman gave him a hand job and only told him to hit the road when he made snide comments about her girl friend. (You can strangle me, and I'll give you a hand job, but you really crossed a line there buddy, insulting my friend and all.) Definitely puts the whole choking thing into context doesn't it?

Each and every one of these women are flakes. I'm amazed that their identities are protected. They weren't raped. They weren't even groped. They should not be allowed to hide behind the cloak of the weaker sex.

It would appear that if anyone needed identity protection - it was Ghomeshi. That he can be publicly humiliated with these charges by jilted women who can remain nameless is atrocious. The intent of the protected identities is understandable but there must be a caveat that prevents anyone from abusing this privilege to make frivolous and/or untruthful statements. These women should be at minimum charged with public mischief and those charges will not hide their identities. There has to some measure of accountability in the system.

The media basically castrated this guy and had everyone believing he was guilty. From the beginning I had my doubts. Women can be some of the most vindictive people on this planet. Especially Ex's. We all know someone who's gone through horrible divorce's. And heaven forbid you have kids with one of these women. OMG. My brother's ex wife brain washed there kid not to want to see him anymore. Who fucking does that?!? Seriously!! And he still pays child support. This women is pure evil.

These women really take the cake. You say one thing and then contradict what you're accusing him of. If they would have crossed examined these women prior we wouldn't even be talking about this.
This case is a scary to any man in a relationship if found guilty. What happens if you're dating one of these vindictive women. She could very easily turn around and accuse you of rape, rough sex you name it. And being accused, you could very well lose your job.
