Valid point; you could probably say the same for most every Canadian PM that's ever served more than two terms. LolI suspect many voted Harper and the Conservatives out rather than specifically to put Trudeau in.

Have you seen their gun platform? It's insane, like Chretien bad:Hopefully they learned from the long gun registry not to fuck with that again, at least there is hope on the c36 front.
Time to lawyer up...and dig up the backyard to "fix my plumbing".repeal changes made by Bill C-42 that allow restricted and prohibited weapons to be freely transported without a permit, and we will put decision-making about weapons restrictions back in the hands of police, not politicians;
provide $100 million each year to the provinces and territories to support guns and gangs police task forces to take illegal guns off our streets and reduce gang violence;
modify the membership of the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee to include knowledgeable law enforcement officers, public health advocates, representatives from women’s groups, and members of the legal community;
require enhanced background checks for anyone seeking to purchase a handgun or other restricted firearm;
require purchasers of firearms to show a license when they buy a gun, and require all sellers of firearms to confirm that the license is valid before completing the sale;
require firearms vendors to keep records of all firearms inventory and sales to assist police in investigating firearms trafficking and other gun crimes;
immediately implement the imported gun marking regulations that have been repeatedly delayed by Stephen Harper; and
as part of our investment in border infrastructure, invest in technologies to enhance our border guards’ ability to detect and halt illegal guns from the United States entering into Canada.
We will not create a new national long-gun registry to replace the one that has been dismantled.
We will ensure that Canada becomes a party to the international Arms Trade Treaty.
Yeah, I think people tolerated the C's when they were in minority governments. Their majority allowed them to do some monumentally stupid moves that will impact society, and people were getting increasingly uneasy about. The politics around the niqab, the stupidity on how they are treating science in this country (what, no census? Wtf) - it all adds up. Even the C36 bill shows how dumb they are, putting in something that likely won't survive a charter challenge.Valid point; you could probably say the same for most every Canadian PM that's ever served more than two terms. Harper was clearly playing to his base when he abolished the long gun registry. In the process he alienated the vast majority who don't support gun ownership. His base would have still voted for him even if he had not abolished the gun registry. So, Harper gained nothing and lost the support on non-gun owners.Have you seen their gun platform? Exactly,there were more than enough reasons not to vote for Harper this time around. Even his once-vaunted economic management proved little more than the good fortune of high commodity prices and sound banking and regulatory environments that likely would've yielded the same results economically, Harper or no Harper.I think people tolerated the C's when they were in minority governments. It was abolished because the Liberals turned it into a billion dollar boondoogle. Scrapping that pos was actually very popular across the country.Harper was clearly playing to his base when he abolished the long gun registry. Me for one wanted Harper OUT and hope now the C-36 is taken off. Some of the ladies now have to get to work and write to them to get rid of C-36 Bill as it is still there. But I do know and read a lot on this last year and Liberal was for sure against this Bill.Good question.. guess we'll find out.
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.Me for one wanted Harper OUT and hope now the C-36 is taken off. I love the ladies and this has been hard on us and them and everyone who hobby's. Lets hope this Bill is taken away.
Exactly. I was going to say the same thing. Gun ownership and the gun registry weren't related as far as popularity goes. Most people at first had no problem with the registry, when it's cost went over 500 million it got people's attention. (people who actually follow politics) The figure hit around 1 billion. It boggles the mind how a list of lawful gun ownership could possibly get past even 10 or 20 million but then again it was the Liberal government who set it up.It was abolished because the Liberals turned it into a billion dollar boondoogle. It's this kind of naivete that put a part-time drama teacher and ski instructor in as the PM.Me for one wanted Harper OUT and hope now the C-36 is taken off. Hard to say... At this point, I wish Justin was more like his father. E.g. "The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation". Unfortunately, it seems that at one point Justin was supporting the Conservatives stance on prostitution / C-36. While it's true that they've stated they would repeal C-36, I doubt it would be the main priority. The issue will likely get pushed to the sidelines, citing the need for further study before they reach a firm consensus on it etc.. I'm hoping they would at least amend the law so that it focuses on what ostensibly is its objective - to reduce human trafficking. It's interesting how sex can be framed through ideology, which dictates the lens through which it is viewed. Exchanging sex for money has, and always will be around. It's gone from a benign activity to something that is criminalized, only because those in power chose to see it that way, according to their frame of reference. I would hope that the Liberals exercise sound judgement and refer C-36 to the SCC.Want to place any bets?
If it wasn't all so serious, I would look forward to the oceans of disappointment.
It's just a little case of innocent amnesia.Exactly. I was going to say the same thing. Gun ownership and the gun registry weren't related as far as popularity goes. This time I don't have to say it!The youth and aboriginal voters have spoken. The old boys club and fat cats, are stuffing their bags with cash as we speak, and moving offshore. The niquab fearing crowd will be buying high caliber firearms and moving to gated communities in Florida....thank god!
Classy... but not unexpected from a lefty. However, we will see-said the Zen Master.This time I don't have to say it!
