PAHRUMP, Nev. – Authorities say former NBA and reality TV star Lamar Odom has been hospitalized after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.

Nye County Sheriff Sharon A. Wehrly says the department got a call Tuesday afternoon requesting an ambulance for an unresponsive man at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada about 70 miles outside of Las Vegas.

A sheriff’s statement says Odom was stabilized and taken to Desert View Hospital in nearby Pahrump.

Officials then tried to have him flown to a Las Vegas hospital, but he was too tall for the helicopter that was available and he was driven by ambulance.

There was no further word on Odom's condition.

The 35-year-old retired from the NBA in 2013 and saw reality TV fame through his four-year marriage to Khloe Kardashian.

I was just about to post this. I've always been a fan of Lamar Odom's career and it's sad too see this.

I really doubt the Kardashians ruined him, rather I think their lifestyle added fuel to the fire. You have to be trained for that type of public scrutiny. He has had a rough go during certain parts of his life since he was a kid and had issues way before meeting Khloe.

His mom died of cancer when he was 12. Father was a heroin drug addict.
Was drafted in '99 yes, but suspended during the 00-01 year for breaching the NBA no drug policy twice.
One of his children died at 6 months in 2006 due to SIDS.

All that and more before he met Khloe.

He's had some unfortunate events occur and has used some shitty coping mechanisms to deal with them.
Some people rise above their demons, but some do not.

Ticking time bomb situation here, really.

The minute it was reported that Lamar Odom had been rushed to a Las Vegas hospital after being found unresponsive in a legal brothel, early speculation was that Odom had overdosed on drugs. After all, the former Los Angeles Lakers star’s substance addiction issues played a large part in the dissolution of his marriage to Khloé Kardashian. Sadly, it’s now been confirmed that indeed an overdose is the case.

E! News has confirmed through a source at Sunrise Hospital, where Odom remains unconscious and on a ventilator, that drugs were found in the 35-year-old’s system. “Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system,” the source says.


Witnesses have also confirmed the drug news to TMZ, claiming Odom had cocaine and opiates in his system. They also noted track marks on one of his arms, but it was unclear if they were fresh or from previous drug use.


Odom is currently being treated as the victim of an overdose, though details revealed about the former NBA star’s condition reveal it’s not the only problem. He possibly suffered a stroke while unconscious and likely incurred brain damage.

“He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucus,” E!’s source said. “They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.”


Odom reportedly suffered from an ischemic stroke, which is caused by blockage in a blood vessel resulting in a lack of oxygen to the brain. It is the most common type of stroke and, according to the National Institutes of Health, can be associated with cocaine use.

The situation probably wasn’t helped by Odom’s size.
