Price is looking very ordinary, if this guy can't get it done in the playoffs is he worth $30 million a year?
I'm questioning this as well. He doesn't seem to have it in the playoffs. This sets it up so he only gets 2 starts. And maybe 1.

I like Estrada then Dickey, followed by Price and Strolman for the next.

If we win all this goes under the bridge.

Price gives up 3 runs in 3 IP. If we dont win game 5, then fire Gibbons.
Bullshit. Considering how will Price is pitching I thinks it's an excellent move to go with Strolman. We will have a ton of pitchers now available for tomorrow.

ALCS opens on Friday. So Stroman on normal rest (with all the off days) on Wednesday to pitch ALDS Game #5. Estrada on normal rest on Friday for ALCS Game #1.

ALCS Game #2 on Saturday. So that's 5 days from now. So either Dickey or Price (or friggin' both!!) on normal rest for Game 2.

Sunday = off day. ALCS Game #3 next Monday - either Price or Dickey on normal+2 days' rest or Stroman on normal rest.

OK, here is the question:

Gallardo or Hamels on Wednesday?

I think Jays are going to figure out Gallardo and start hitting him. Hamels is the better pitcher.

Rangers are toast anyway. We're over our nerves now and we've got the momentum. They must know that they had us on the ropes because we were nervous and hadn't found our confidence until the Tulo HR. They couldn't take advantage and close it out. Now we're coming after them and we're a far better team.

I don't mind going with Stroman (not Stolman x2) for game 5, but having a rested, confident Price to backup Stroman would be good insurance in case we need a quick hook in game 5.

But while Dickey is going strong with just 78 pitches, AND up 7-1, you don't blow Price for 50 pitches in this mop up situation.
Let him go 1 or 2 innings but after 3 innings, the key Rangers faced him twice, which means the batters can time him next time Price comes in game 5.

The Fox commentators are saying Price is likely unavail in game 5 after 3 innings of work. There is no precedent so I don't know whether a starter can come back on 1 day rest after 3 innings of work.

Gibbons has pushed "all-in" with this move, and if it doesn't work out in game 5 then he has to take responsibility.

Gallardo has got the Jays' number so I think they start him with a quick hook to Hamels if G stumbles at all.
It's game 5 baby! all hands on deck!

No Price or Estrada or Dickey in Game #5. It's The Stro Show and the Pen.

There's no way they can use Price in Game #5. He's burned up. He's not that effective anyway in this series. Stro is pitching better and the Pen will have TONS of rest. We can use the entire Pen if we have to.

Texas buffoon governor Greg Abbott prematurely congratulates Houston Astros for taking ALDS 3-1 from KC with tweet from personal Twitter account...... just before KC scores 7 unanswered to come back and take the game forcing Game #5 in MO!!! Clearly the biggest idiot in the state of Texas, a jurisdiction especially well supplied with morons.

Even when they win, Gibbons can do no right.

Use up Price today instead of Wednesday and he is ready to pitch earlier in the next series. If he pitches Wed he's probably not available until at least game 3.

Today was a must win. Choo and Beltre were 4 for 4 against Dickey and coming up. Price pretty much shut them down and took away any Rangers momentum. If Gibby stays with RA and they score off him everyone would be bitching. Secure the must win and have your best starter (at the moment) start the deciding game with a fully rested bullpen. If they give up the lead there is no game 5.

I am continually amazed at how many people go on and on talking like they know more than a manager who has spent his whole life in baseball and spends every day interacting with his players. If you guys had to make every decision the manager is faced with you'd be making at least 10 fold the errors he may make.

We were up 7-1! That's a 6 runs, it doesn't fall apart all at once. You can see when guys get on base and have plenty of time to make a switch. As it stands now Price labored thru 3 innings and now is unavail for game 5.

What is this BS about P not avail until game 3 of ALCS.... We need to get pastTexas first. Cart-before-the-horse much??.
Now I hear Loup is out with a family situation and he will likely not be avail on Wed either.
For you slow ones, that means NO lefties in the bullpen on Wed.

Texas has 5 key lefty hitters: Choo, Fielder, Moreland, Odor, and Hamilton. This is not setting up well.

I'm a huge Jays fans (just look up my posts) but Gibbons F'd up.

They have to score early again. The big worry is that we dont do that well in close games....so today Gibbons was more afraid that Dickey would make a mistake and the game would become close.

I think the overlooked factor here is the Cecil factor (and for some reason Loup was unavailable today)...so I think Price will be used wednesday in the "Cecil" role. Pitch to lefties in the seventh or eighth.

My other concern is the lack of faith shown in the other relievers...Hendriks throws 95 and would be an interesting go to after Dickey.....Lowe was ignored. I just hope there is no lingering affect in the next series.

All in all, I give Mr. Gibbons a pass on this one and place my faith in Marcus pitching like Marc 00000000

Hey we won...although once again Texas relievers shut us down but for one run

Gibby gave a long interview on using Price post game. He said that Dickey was gonna go 6 tops and that Choo hits the shit out Dickey. He was afraid that Choo would get a hit and then the next guy (Fielder?) would go deep for a 3-run bomb and Texas would get back in the game.

Loup was off for personal reasons (!!!!??? - why the fuck in an elimination game in the playoffs??!!) but will be back on Wednesday. With no Cecil or Loup, Jays had no lefties in the Pen and had to use Price.

All in all, we had 3 excellent pitchers to cover Game #5 and Game #1 ALCS. We only need two. So might as well use Price in Game #4. It worked. If we had lost - for ANY reason!!! - THAT would be the disaster. Things turned out pretty good.
