For the record..Cecil was given his shot and didn't shine. Situational lefty and late relief has fit him well and he's excelled nicely. You can't screw with the rotation now. They all have their roles and responsibilities now.
I don't know 'bout that, Cecil is a different pitcher than he was early in the year. He seems to have more movement in his 2-seam and cut fastballs. And his curve has been unhittable. When has 2 strikes, everyone in the world knows that the curve is coming and yet the batters still miss by 6-8 inches. These are elite major league hitters and they just look silly!
I say give Cecil a chance, he has been lights out.

Hopefully Buehrle gets his 2 innings, and Edwing gets his 40th HR on sunday.

I like the fact that they have home field advantage for the first round as it is a 2-2-1 split. For round two, if KC survives, it is a 2-3-2 split. Split the first two then you have three at home.
Agreed. Seems there isn't a lot of advantage getting the best record in the AL.

That's funny, earlier this season Jays fans were burning Cecil in effigy.

I'm not worried about Osuna, if he wants to become our Sandman then he has to seize the moment. As for Beeston-AA's plan being a failure, I disagree. Under Godfrey-Ricciardi the Jays became the Leafs, it took five seasons to turn the franchise around. During that time AA assiduously built up his farm system. Beeston's best move was to persuade Buck Martinez to return as the TV broadcaster. Ricciardi threw him under a bus, Buck became the voice MLB Prime Time, he didn't need to return to the Jays. Beeston had a sit down with him and Buck aired his grievances. He played to Buck's loyalty to the team, an in demand announcer became ours once more.

What do you mean by "another one?". Your making it sound like he does it all time. The guy has blown like 2 saves.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/32693/roberto-osuna

Well, here's the facts. Osuna blew saves on Sept 1 and yesterday. There was also the notable Bosox loss on Sept 19 when he entered a 2-2 game in the 8th. Jays went up 4-2, and he is in line for the win. But he and Sanchez gave up 5 runs in the 9th to lose 7-6. Not a blown save, but a bad loss.
3 bad outings in 13 games since sept 1, is not good. Those are the facts.

BTW, next year, I like Osuna as a starter. His slider and change are pretty good.

That's pretty cool. B gets to achieve his personal goal and then retiring immediately, he pulls himself from the post-season consideration. He is man enough to know he would be taking one of 25 playoff roster spots, as just a glorified cheerleader and backslapper.

Very classy veteran to give up a playoff spot to help the team win.

Buehrle would make an excellent pitching coach if he's ever thinking of a second career

part of the problem with baseball, is they make so much money now many of them do not want or need second careers in baseball. That's why you see hitting coaches and pitching coaches that nobody has ever heard of.

Additional fact, 165-200 innings from a good pitcher has more value than 60-70 from the same pitcher.
Good starters are more valuable than good relievers (and more difficult to find).

IF this really happens, and the Jays go on to win the WS, they should give B an honorary WS ring. I think only the 25 on the roster officially get the rings. I mean he is the team leader in wins 15, and was the only reliable starter before the All-star break 11-4.
All pros work to win the championship and to give up a spot is huge. Respect!

okay, but even the best closers in baseball have track records like this.

I assume you mention the Osuna point because of my argument with some others about keeping him in the closer role?

If so, I appreciate the support. Anyone who thinks he shouldn't be given a chance as a starter, doesn't know what they're talking about, and I can assure you him and his agent make that clear to blue jays brass. The role was great for him this year, as we needed it filled and he's only 20 so it was a good way to get his feet wet in the majors. I don't care what people say they have read about him being interested in a closer role full time. That's just him trying to say the right thing to the media and trying not to act like a jerk especially seeing as he is shinning in that role right now. What do people expect him to say??? "ahhh...yeah.... I hate this role and if I don't get a shot as a starter in the next couple years I'll be gone the day I become an UFA"?

And I've said a million times, you don't trade 70 good innings for 200. No point in having a closer if you don't have good starters that can get you to the 9th with the lead.

Everyone who was on the roster this year would get a ring. Also, even if B isn't on the playoff roster, he can still be in the dugout, so they don't need to worry about losing his dugout presence.

This is correct. It's like Oprah is looking after the ring giving.

Whatever success Toronto has in playoffs, even guys like Andrew Albers (1gm), Rob Rasmussen (1)
Matt Boyd (2) Chad Jenkins (2) Phil Coke (2), Daniel Norris (5) would get rings.

Uh huh. Michael Saunders will get a full share, just as an example.
Good to know. Back in the old days before the big money, players use to count on their WS money to feed the kids. Every player to-day owe Curt Flood a huge thank you.

Osuna as a starter in 2016? Might depend on signing Price. If so, Price, Stroman, Dickey, And Marc 000000 Estrada.........and I would prefer Hutch as 5th starter and Osuna as closer.....If no price, Sanchez could be closer like he was in 2014 and Osuna could start.

By the way, I put our chances at 60% of signing Price...if he is who he appears to be ..loves the teammates and loves to win....why go anywhere else if the Jays can make a good offer? Or am i naive and he will just go to the highest bidder?
