Ram or Silverado or Sierra ?

Hey gang

I'm in the market for a new pick up truck. A 1500 with a standard cab. I've narrowed it down to these three and when I look at the consumer reports it gives a clear indication of the stats but not much in the personal driving experience. I'm looking for it to do light plowing in the winter for my parents and their neighbour's country driveway. Plus tow my snowmobile trailer and probably haul wood at the cottage. Nothing too crazy heavy duty, just general work truck stuff.

My question is for the people that have driven or chosen one of these three: "what was the feature(s) that convinced you to choose the one you did"

I'm not in a rush, I'd like to have it by late November.

Any input is greatly appreciated

My pick is a 2015 F-150, which I've been semi-seriously shopping as a toy hauler.

It's all new, lightweight and relatively decent on fuel. i prefer the interior, by far. to my butt, it's got a better ride than the Chev. I didn't shop the Ram.

Buddy of mine has the Sierra. Fully tricked out with every known option and after market gadget... awesome vehicle.

Guys, don't judge the OP, I am sure he has a perfectly logical solution for including a minivan into the mix. Maybe he is trying to convince his SO why a truck is a better idea.

I say if you want to look like a complete douche get the minivan as it can do the things you describe above, but be warned you may get a few scourns, head shakes and face palms from you fellow men...just saying...who am I to judge.

I have one with the eco boost.
Friend of mine bought the GM because he gets the employee discount.
We've taken mine and his up to the cottage.
He hates to admit it, he likes the ride and handling of the MIGHTY Ford better.
Quieter, more responsive, the tranny seems to find the right gear quicker up and down the hills.
The interior is by far nicer.

Dont be so quick to judge through second hand (and probably paid/biased opinions). The Tundra is a good truck. I was surprised how popular they are down south. I didn't ship it because it's dated and the ride is really choppy when it's not loaded. Normally, I'd favour Toyota quality and reliability over domestics but Detroit (esp Ford) has its shit together when it comes to full size pickups

Question ... Why would you want a standard cab with the big three offering 4 door models . I have a standard cab and it's a pain in the ass. No where to put anything except up front . Driving in winter with 2 people there is no where to store your jackets . Groceries or what ever had to be put up front unless you get a cap for the truck . It's nice to be able to put items in the back seating area . Fold down the seats and you could put many items back there in that you don't want the weather to touch .

Not only that you could store items out of site in the back seat area . You don't have to get the really big back doors , they offer smaller doors if you like . Sure your box maybe cut down to 6' 6" but do you really need a 8' box .

My Chev is a standard cab with the 8' box ( that's all they had back then when I ordered it ) . I love the 8' box but when it's time to get another truck it will not be the standard cab model .

Ford=Good truck.

F150 all the way..rides quieter and smoother than many luxo-sedans, and way more fun.. It's got to have the 5.0 Cobra V8 engine though...anything less is sketchy.

Oh that's an easy answer: I need an 8 foot box for plywood. They don't make any other cab configurations for an 8' box

Naw, I don't like the sight lines from the drivers side in the Ford. Too small

I'll +1 on the F150. If i were to ever get a pickup, it would be an F150. I know a bunch of people with them and they all have told me that they will get another F150 in the future.... no real higher compliment for a vehicle than that.

I cant believe no one has mentioned the Dodge Ram
this is my third ram long Horn in 6 years. My present Long Horn Ram had the new Italian made 3 litre turbo diesel engine. I pull a 24" car trailer with my race car inside no problem, tandem snowmobile trailer loaded up with ease, and a dirt bike or Seadoo is no problem. The inside is as luxurious as it gets and I have never had a problem with these trucks. Never. This is a no brainer Dodge all the way, because no other manufacturer overs a Diesel engine at the 1500 series.
