I don't want to go back through the last 3 pages.

From what I understand the Islamic school admitted that they didn't read the fine print of the rules (which said that opposing teams may have female players on their team)... They then offered to forfeit the game..

How is this a fucking story?

Unless everybody's just floored that a religious school DIDN'T ask for religious accommodations...

Where does it say they offered to forfeit the game?

If they had done that, then I'd agree it's a non-story. I don't see that anywhere though.

If that's true then the coach is even more of an asshole

The ONLY reason the ISNA team offered to forfeit the game after half the game was played,...was to insure there was no point run up by the apposing team,...should be very obvious to even the senile here.

Playing the religious card to affect the outcome of a sport,...shows how some think,...not exactly sporting, or Canadian,...is it,...but some have different priorities,...!!!

That's nothing but an assumption on your part.. And one that's based on your own prejudice towards Muslims.

The rival team, from a private Islamic high school, raised the issue during a half-time break and offered to forfeit the game rather than continue playing against a team with girls on it.

The story does not give enough detail to conclude whether they knew before the game started or not but it would seem incredible to me that nobody knew the girls were on the opposite team, so then the question should get asked, why didn't they settle this before the game? Was it in case they found themselves able to win the game anyways?

They should have forfeited the game before it started. That's where this would have been a non-story. To do it at halftime only adds questions, not removes them.

Well.. There is this...
On Friday, ISNA issued a statement apologizing for the “confusion and misunderstandings” arising from the incident, saying it had not been aware of ROPSSAA’s rules allowing female players on boys’ teams.
As far as why they waited until the game was in play, I would guess that they had no idea that girls were on the opposing team until they took the field. I suppose they could have stopped playing right then and there, but now we're getting really fucking nit-picky aren't we???

Bottom line.. This ISN'T a fucking example of Islamic students DEMANDING religious accommodation.. AT BEST it's an example of poor sportsmanship (and even that's based on a lot of assumptions)..

If they truly weren't aware, and did offer to forfeit out of genuine interest of not imposing their rules on others, then that satisfies all the conditions I feel all religions should adhere themselves to in public spaces. I have no problems with that.

This could be a case where a Muslim institution isn't forcing its beliefs on others, and if so, good for them. Hopefully they do their research next time.

BULL SHIT,...on all counts,...maybe girls who play soccer don't look like girls like unless covered from head to toe,...to a culture that has a prejudice towards females,...but would have been obvious to anybody when the 2 teams lines up before the start.
But lets wait until we are having our ass handed to you by a team with 2 girls on it,...then call the religion card,...is that a new card we are going to see in the professional leagues now,...I wonder what colour it will be,...but best not be a colour that upsets some archaic religion,...???

How the hell do you know I have a preduce towards Muslims,...but I do dislike anybody who tries to force their religion on me,...and also act in an un-sportsman like manner,...in the name of religion.

The biggest cause of death throughout history has been religion. How many millions have been killed in wars and acts of terrorism all in the name of religion. No thanks, I'll stay independent.

You are confusing "bad muslims" or hypocritical Muslims with compromise. I know of plenty of Muslims who break their own rules but expect others to abide by them. Plenty of them will take a swig of forbidden alcohol but support prohibition.
?
Back in the day in Afganistan they would give you easy a kilo of hash for a bottle of whiskey and they wanted more...

Your argument is fallacious.
Why is that; because it conflicts with your preconceptions?

And yes, I would be called a bad Anglican by 'good' Anglicans. I've hung around with plenty of Catholics who would be called bad by the Pope (well maybe not this one).

According to Canadian societal expectations, every person has the freedom to choose how, when, or if they want to observe religion. There have been Muslims in Canada since the beginning and the vast majority of them are just like any other Canadian. I don't care about proving anything about Muslims around the world but it is quite clear that Muslims in Canada (if you missed it, that's where this story took place) are for the most part as accepting as any other Canadian (which obviously isn't always that tolerant).

Seems a reasonable deduction. It's not like the extremely observant Muslim coach and players forgot there were girls on the team for the first half. Plenty of scheming coaches out there.
